MMs /drool draft 2013

my major complaint is other teams arent stupid enough to stop bracket coverage on Calvin just cause were running for 4 yds per carry. Its not opening up anything down field and the JAX game was the first time all year that a solid run game led to sustained drives and points on the board. Id rather see Broyles catch a 4 yd pass then try to make something happen than to see 30+ carries a game. As someone else stated when its a short yardage situation our run blocking oline is getting annihilated. Hey, if they continue to do what they did in JAX then im allowed to change my mind....but i wont be easily fooled because something good came of the run game once vs a shitty team.

Just needs to be one or two guys each week. If it's not the running game it needs to be Titus, Broyles, Pettigrew or Scheffler having a good game. They can alternate for all I care just as long as points get scored.

And Jax wasn't the first game the Lions ran well
18 carries 83 yards 4.6 average vs Rams 2 rushing TDs 27 points
36 141 yards 3.9 average 1 rush TD 41 points at Ten
28 138 yards 4.9 average at Philly 26 points
18 carries 97 yards 5.4 average at Chicago (2 fumbles lost and 4 and out, yardage was there)
34 carries 149 yards 4.4 average at Jax 4 rush TDs

3 wins and a 41 point effort in there. Yardage wasn't problem vs Chicago

Games we didn't run well
26 carries 82 yards 3.2 average with Kevin Smith/Bell at San Fran
20 carries 55 yards 2.5 average (LeShoure/Bell) Minnesota

Average day
22 carries 84 yards 3.8 average Seattle

Minnesota and San Fran is before they started incorporating Reiff in more. Plus San Fran is very hard to run on especially with just Kevin Smith

Ten and Min were the 2 games that we kept trying to pound the ball the entire first half and we couldnt convert on 3rd downs. We couldnt even flip the field position and if i remember right we had basically 0 points at half in each of those games. Alot of that was on Stafford as well....but im looking at the whole thing together as one offense. If were running a ton and its not leading to points then i just dont get it. A solid consistent run game should help open things up....it just seems like detroit is the only team in the league that their WRs are always blanketed lol. I frikken hate redzone cause all i see is other teams completing huge passes to wide open guys all the time lol....

I think Broyles will be huge going forward. He provides those pass plays that give you run yardarge but with more explosiveness than Burleson had.
