Last year, my guy before the combine was Jimmy Smith. This year, I'm throwing my support behind CHASE MINNIFIELD. 6'0 CB out of Virginia. I watched him in two different games and the one thing I noticed is that his name was never mentioned and the occasional time it was he had a good tackle in run support or broke up a pass. When I checked walterfootball, I thought he'd be a 2nd round pick, but it looks like they have him as a first round. I like Dennard and Jenkins, but I would take Minnifield over both of them.

He, unlike our current CBs, can be physical with receivers and actually win the battle. I think he's exactly what this team needs. Also doesn't hurt that he's a high character kid.

Of course, shit can change. There's always a few guys in the combine, senior bowl, and pro days that sneak up on us. But, for now, this is my guy for the draft.

37 to cleveland on the walter mock i saw. Hes a good player....until i see him more in the combine i would think he has a lot of work to do if youre hoping to see him at 23. He probably needs to pass Dennard and Jenkins and Dre losing stock due to the possession charge probably hurts a guy like minnifield because he'll probably fall out of the top 10.

yeah, he does have some work to do. Last year I wanted jimmy smith in the second round, but i said that after the combine he'd be a solid first round pick. He didn't go as high as I thought, but I think the character concerns dropped him. Minnifield is more talented and is a great kid. We'll see. I think he'll jump Jenkins in the "experts" rankings though.

Boykin, Gilmore and Minnifield will be duking it out to be next best after claiborn, kirkpatrick, dennard and jenkins.

loved Jimmy Smith also....but he got beat like a rented mule at the end of the year...opposing QBs picked on him religiously...maybe the injury set him back but he looked brutal at times....Phillip Rivers lit him up like a Christmas Tree....be interesting to see how he plays this week with Ed Reed a little hobbled.

I'd be down with Chase, Monster. Huge fan of his father as a kid and I feel like Chase can be every bit as good.

i realize this is just a youtube video, but it shows his physicality, tackling technique, athleticism, and some awareness. The only concern i have is his pure speed, but i think he's fast enough and smart enough to stay with anyone.

Oh and the video is his junior highlights. They didn't throw at him much this year...for good reason.

Come on Cheeno CJ, Demaryius Thomas, Chris Long...they're all ACC guys and good players. There are good players in every conference...

Agreed. That said the ACC this year was pretty devoid of defensive talent and a brutal conference in terms of competition overall. Arguably their best team got torched for 70 in their BCS bowl game.

that shit happens. He's not a perfect player, but I do like him over a lot of the other CBs out there. We'll see if after the combine. I'm sure there will be a few other players that i'll like.

Ive been on the Minnifield train for a while. I think he shows the quick feet and balance to transition to the NFL. I wouldnt mind at all if we took him.

yeah, it's a great year to take a CB early. Really strong position. Not to mention the records that QBs set this year will have everyone jumping on the pass rushers and DBs.
