suck so bad, Christ sake these guys need someone with some balls to wake them up.

Maybe at least yell at them ... Like a closed door meeting in which chalk boards or Garbage cans get thrown... I mean didn't Jim yell at them right before a early road trip in 2006? He seems more subtle and calculating now days.

I doubt yelling would do much.

They're probably more likely to tune it out rather than respond to it.

And that's what Leyland said the other day. It would just be a show for the media. The other thing about those players only meetings and calling one another out, etc...that can backfire on you in a hurry. You can lose the entire lockeroom.

I don't understand why people equate being pissed off to playing better. It doesn't work that way. Don Kelly isn't going to hit .300 because he's mad he's making outs. I won't be able to dunk a basketball no matter how pissed off I get about failing at it.

The amount of hits we get compared to runs scored seems abnormal lol. Its crazy...

That's because we are sloooowwwww!!! A few games ago they showed a statistic that we were 5th in the AL in batting avg with RISP at .279. Rod and Mario commented on how that stat surprised them since we struggle to score runs. That same inning we left the bases loaded....but in the inning their avg with RISP was .333 but because we can't score from 2B on a base hit the bases were left loaded. That's one of many reasons why statistics in baseball can be deceiving. We do not have a balanced line-up.

It's not just speed. Our guys aren't SMART base-runners either. You don't have to be fast to be a good base-runner.

Agreed but.....being smart doesn't always help you go from 1st to 3rd or 2nd to home.

I said this in another thread and got some grief for it. The players that can hit are as slow as they come.

TEX has 68 more PAs and and 51 more ABs with RISP than DET through 54 games. Even if the BAVG was the same (.281 for DET right now), that is 14 more hits with RISP. True, DET is the worst team for GIDP with RISP (or just runners one, only MIN is worse).

I have to come to the realization that this team just really isnt very good..Outside of Cabby, Prince, and Verlander, the team is really just a bunch of average to below average players.

Fister is above average when healthy, but this year he has been hurt. Everybody else are what they are..

Im starting to think that I had way to high of expectations for this team heading into the season..

Avila is better than average.

And Jackson was playing at an MVP level before he got hurt.

Other than that yeah, not a strong supporting cast for the star players.

Yea, forgot about Jackson. Add him to the good list.
