So I know it's a little too soon to think about this, but what do you guys think next year's club will look like?

If nothing else, this series with Texas has shown that we need more athleticism (speed and defense) and major help in the bullpen. Our starters, as well as set up and closer, are very good.

This is what i see for next year:

Turner hasn't shown that he's even close to starting. Maybe 2013 unless he improves dramatically.

I actually want Raburn to return next season. If he can figure out a way to hit above the Mendoza line from March to June, he'd be of value.

Well, he certainly is going to need to do it himself, perhaps during the off-season, along with maybe the help of a paid trainer or former MLB vet who is retired, cuz he sure as hell won't be getting any help from Llegendary Lloyd, IMO.

And what if he doesn't?

AND if he does I know the 2nd half will suck. That's his trademark. A one half player.

so we have what 23 million dllars coming off the book with guillen and maggs so that should be able to get a legit 3rd baseman and 2nd baseman ( hopefully phillips) and a few arms in the pen and then we can make a few trades this teams going to be good hopefully

I feel sorry (a little) for Perry who claims that his failing eyesight cannot be corrected with glasses...hmm.

Well...I was born with a few flaws too, and "may" have been able to perhaps experience at best, a season of being a low "A" ball pitcher in the minors if not, and had I known at the time that I had a genetic defect called ankylosing spondylitis in the lumbar region of my spine, along with having extremely, unusually high arched insteps within my feet, (could not even ice-skate worth a shit, despite many winters as a kid that were spent trying) both of which I did not learn about until looong after my youth was over, then I obviously wouldn't have been so very damned disappointed in never getting a chance to maybe get a tryout or at least obtain a college sports-scholarship, for quite awhile after HS.

Life obviously ain't fair for most as well as for Perry, Zumaya, et al. but at least they have had a lot more than just a cuppa joe in the bigs, and I also have been diagnosed with astigmatism like Perry has, and now cannot see much more than a blur out of my right eye, b/c it is clouding-up now with a growing cataract, that will need surgery that I can hardly afford to have done at the present time.

RP-Perry

god no not perry

That is just what I think based on what is available. I think Schlereth has a nice upside. He just needs to learn to throw strikes. I don't know what Perry's deal is, but if he gets it, he can be in the pen. I figure Inge is under contract another year, so there is a good chance of a platoon at 3b and a farewell tour.

He's a second-half player. I see no reason why that should change even if he can go .270/.320./.750 in the first half.

i think Ajax and Raburn should both get into a program that helps them tell the difference between pitches and to watch the ball as it leaves the pitchers hand. i remember reading something in the book the extra 2% that joe madden used to use something along the lines of painting different color dots on the baseball and he would force his players to say the color of the dot as it went to the plate.

I'd like to see the end of guys that can't get their OBP over .300....

Kelly
Inge
Guillen
Santiago
Dirks

Kelly and Santiago will probably be back, as unlike most of the starters, they can play some defense and have some versatility. Inge has a contract, so he's probably back.

Dirks is terrible. He's a minor league player, a la Clete Thomas. There are tons of better left handed outfield bats hanging around. Why keep this guy?

Lineup
1) Philips/Rollins 2B
2) Reyes SS
3) Young LF
4) Miggy 1B
5) V-mart DH
6) Boesch RF
7) Peralta 3B
8) Avila C
9) Upton CF

Gives us speed in the lineup and better defense through out outside of Center but Ajax doesn't take good routes to the ball so that takes away his great speed.

Rotation
1) JV
2) Fister
3) Scherzer
4) Porcello
5) Edwin Jackson

Bullpen
CL Valverde
SU Benoit
Schlereth
Below
Coke
Chad Qualls

Bench
Don Kelly
Brandon Inge
Danny Worth
Rod Barajos
Ramon Santiago
