The Cards are good. I hope we get a rematch. And I certainly hope they get past LA.

I don't. LA and Detroit would be a great World series.

If we were fortunate enough to reach the WS but lost, I could stand it if the Cards won but not LA. And with all the teams still left outside of us, I'll be rooting for the Cards. Pittsburgh would have been nice but not LA or Boston.

Pirates are my #2 team...sad to see them go down, but happy for a great season for them. At this point I want the rematch....with a different outcome:cheers:

Pythagorean Records

STL 101-61
BOS 100-62
DET 99-63
ATL 98-64
OAK 96-76

LAD 89-73
PIT 88-74
TBR 86-76

Any team except LAD should win it.

but pythagorean records are meaningless come post season baseball.

I don't get the hate for the Cards. They are basically us, except they won the last series of the year rather than lose.

Granted this year they are better, but in 2006 and in 2011 they were ho-hum teams with no realistic shot at the World Series.....just like us in 2006 and 2012.

If we don't make it, I'm going to root for the Cardinals, it's not their fault they actually come to play in October.

I don't like the Dodgers and hate the Red Sox. I guess I would have to root for the Cards by default.

The Cards are like my dream team. I don't hate them like I do other teams. Payroll is more reasonable and they win a lot of WS.

Cards defeated the otherwise stellar Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers 9-0 yesterday.

Kershaw was torched for 7 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings before being taken out. He had lost each game that he pitched vs the Cards during the season as well and lost the other game that he pitched in the NLDS pitching 6 innings giving up the winning run in a SHO by the Cards' Wacha.

I have disliked the Cards since '68 and am very envious of their fans given the large amount of success that they have witnessed over the years by their ballclub, which is second only to the Yankees in pennants/WS wins.

Ironically both Detroit and the Boston have identical 1-2 records in the World Series vs St. Louis. W/O checking I believe that only the Yankees have played the Cards more often in the Fall Classic and have a 2-2 record against them.

If the Tigers are to win the ALCS, I was hoping for a LA-Detroit WS, b/c I think that the Cards would again defeat them in 6 games or less. Maybe even sweep, if the Tigers' "vaunted" offense was to again go into early hibernation ala '12 vs the Giants.

Carlos Beltran was a player on the Mets that I had posted on the late ESPN Detroit Tigers messageboard, thatI had hoped the Tigers would have gone after several years ago...oh, well...
