the Michigan senate (gerrymandered into permanent GOP control it seems) just passed a bill criminalizing anal & oral sex ( among other things) for both heterosexual and homosexual consenting adults. Fifteen years in prison??? are they serious?

now, one, WTF???, two, the US Supreme Court ruled such prohibitions unconstitutional over a decade ago, so the Michigan GOP is just flushing taxpayer money down the toilet on this one, and three, nothing says "we support personal freedom" like criminalizing the personal intimate actions of law abiding citizens.

hope some of you so-called moderates will wake the fuck up over this.

the bill is probably a moot point for you Republitards, since no one wants to blow you anyway, gay or straight.

edit: I'd like to sincerely thank whoever fixed the thread title.

more on the topic. State Sen. Rick Jones explanation for putting this language in an animal rights bill really makes no sense.

LOL blow jobs are "abominable and detestable crimes against nature" now.

jeez when the topic of sex comes up, sometimes you'd be hard put to distinguish between the things Republicans say, or a really fucked up Penthouse forum post.

Just imagine if someone like Tez Cruz was appointing justices to the Supreme Court.

The language of the bill, shown in the link to the link, shows that the bill is about prohibiting animal cruelty.

I only gave it a cursory look over, but I didn't see anything else.

teh second link I posted explained that state sen snuck the language clearly referring to sexual contact between people into the bill, in addition to animals.

it keeps bestiality illegal, while including blow jobs between a man and his lady in the definition of unnatural abominable conduct or whatever.

only thing allowed: sex between a man and a lady, married to eachother, missionary position, for purposes of procreation, and they must pray to the Christian god for forgiveness both before and after the act, and certify all this has been completed in a form they must fill out and submit to the Department of Homeland Security, which President Cruz expanded and entrusted with oversight of all sexual conduct.

and do not claim this is inconsistent with the GOP's "small government" platform, or you will be sent to Guantanamo.

I picture Ted's ideal situation something similar to Demolition Man in the future. And I'm not talking about the 3 seashells.

what the hell are you supposed to do on the weekends now?

"So Mr Representative, what do you do in your spare time?"

"I like to add things to legislation that are irrelevant due to Supreme Court rulings made years ago but display my own personal beliefs on how others should behave."

What goes on in the bedroom between two consenting adults is no politician's business.

Well I do live pretty close to Ohio. Stupid though, are republicans this dumb? I mean....I'd expect at least an intelligence level above Sloth from the Goonies.

That brings up a point, is it just in public where it would be against the law? Or do they barge in someone's house because of a suspicion?

I am not convinced that the whole thing isn't a hoax.

do you know something, or is that just a suspicion? I found it reported in a few places since Monday; not on any mainstream sites (e.g. CBS or CNN), though i figured that wasn't surprising due to the subject matter.

Wolf Blitzer isn't going to say "blowjobs" on the air.

If an evangelical/extremeright politician(s) added this, it more than likely means in someone's house.

At first it was just a suspicion, but I just did a search engine search for "oral and anal sex outlawed in Michigan" and came up with this and this.

Ostensibly, laws against sodomy, which were made unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court 2003, have long been on the books in Michigan, and no one has bothered to remove them.

Jones claims he just didn't want a food fight over a tangential and unrelated non-issue to derail or interfere with the passage of his animal protection legislation.
