At one time the Muslim world was the most advanced in civilization. From a broad looking perspective, as they became more orthodox and conservative, they lost their superior edge in science and knowledge. Meanwhile in Europe they were moving away from having the church as their sole education, science began to evolve, and eventually Europe became more advanced while the Arab world became not-so-much.

Science drives knowledge and advances society, religion retards those advances.

That said, I do not for a second believe science is the end-all-be-all. Science often gets things wrong and introduces things into society that cause harm. Not just I'm advanced weapons, but in things that are suppoised to be helpful. Big Pharma often causes long term health problems, chemical companies introduce harmful compounds, and many other harmful things....including every single supposed cause to artificial global warming.

Still, I am not sold that humans are the sole responsible party in the global warming scenario. It has only been 10,000 years since the last ice age. While that is long in human terms it is extremely short span for the sun. How well do we know the sun to say it is or is not a major factor? What about volcanic activity?

And to what degree is science culpable in deforestation?

Science has many negatives and is far from a solution. Typically the more science strives to solve a problem, their research results in causing bigger problems than the one thing it solved. How much energy is consumed in the research?

Now everyone should realize I am not against science as many threads I have posted are pro-science. However, I'm not anti-religion like most scientists. There needs to be a balance, for when they work together, they can definitely improve quality of life. The problems tend to come from going to extremes.

What have I done to solve it? Well, I donate quite a bit of money each month, even sponsor a few kids throughout the world. I've organized neighborhood food drives as well for my local community. Of course, I'm not all powerful, so I can't do everything myself. Do you know anyone who is all powerful? Besides, I'm sorry if asking God to feed a few kids is such a difficult thing. Maybe, he'd rather answer your prayer about helping you get through your tough week.
