Nothing on Governor Snyder and Flint?

I had just moved in 2010 but i would have likely voted for snyder over bernero as well.

I forgot about Virg Bernero.

He would've been a great governor based on what I knew about him at the time; wasn't his gubernatorial campaign derailed by something stupid though?

the Michigan Democratic party seems to underachieve greatly. For a blue state, they're a major disappointment.

now Flint's also dealing with an outbreak of Legionnaire disease apparently linked to the water issue with 10 people dead (!!!!) and Snyder has called for federal help to fix this mess.

I thought "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" was the scariest phrase you could expect to hear. Remember that quote you stupid republitard fucks?!?? LOL.

you seem to love the word "republitard". I haven't been on this forum long enough to know who exactly you are referring to when you use this word.

It the right thing to do. Obviously.

There are only a couple Republicans who post here; Byco, and maybe KAWDUP on those days where he doesn't wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

Republitards: you, spartannazi, tLiar, mitch, eh... I'm forgetting a couple!! zyxt has earned himself honorary Republitard status for his willingness to declare war on and bomb and murder any given non-white, non judeo-christian group of people, but he seems to be dialing it down lately.

Gulo_Red has presented a curious case, where he seems to wish he was a Republitard, but grudgingly finds himself on the progressive socialist side of every issue: climate change, sensible firearm regulations, the economy, prison reform, foreign policy, not being racist, not making poor black people drink lead-contaminated water, etc. Frankly, I don't understand the appeal... maybe he had a Republitard uncle or someone like that he looked up to.

I believe in the things Republicans are supposed to believe in. And I'm pretty moderate. I don't think people are happy when they are handed stuff and I believe lots of people acting in their own self interest is more efficient than central planning. But I acknowledge that if wealth and power is too centralized, people acting in their own self interest becomes functionally more similar than different from central planning. It's not my fault the Republican party has been hijacked.

Honestly, I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that my thoughts on what the ideal should be aligns pretty perfectly with the Catholic economic theory of distributism, that to my recollection, they never covered in any class I took. I think this is what Republicans should be shooting for, but if Democrats seem more aligned to it, I'll vote that way.

The real question is whether there any days at all that you don't "wake up on the wrong side of the bed".

Not sure that specifically makes you a libtard or not. Personally I don't see the connection between being a Republican and whether I am in ornery mood or not, but you see so much the rest of us don't. You hear voices too?

I always get up on the wrong side of the bed, yes. We're in temp housing for another month, so the baby's crib is in our bedroom, and the little bundle of joy still wakes up an average of 5-6 times per night.

I have had exactly one (1) full night's sleep since last July.

I wonder who made the decision to take the water from the river.
Emergency manager. He vetoes Lake Huron water proposal that was voted to implement. Detroit was gouging Flint and should be some accountability there. Emergency manager hired by Snyder.

On top of that, Flint river was known to be heavily contaminated years ago. It was proposed to dredge 30 feet below bottom for miles in order to clean up. Flints water plant is smack dab in the middle of the sesspool that contributed to it.

Snyder and Emergency manager need to resign and be charged with criminal negligence.

Damn, I know how you are feeling. Honestly, I do very much hope that stage ends for you soon.

So much nicer when all you have to deal with is spit up and potty training. :*)

I did a quick google search and found this timeline. It doesn't jive with a lot of what has been posted in this thread.

Your kidding right? I'm not wasting my time reading it due to the source. Look up the vote approval on getting water from Lake Huron. Emergency Governor vetoes it to cut cost by using Flint river. Don't be lazy, do your homework. These are facts not political opinions. Another fact, previous administration(s) have documents and results of serious contamination issue in Flint River from various plant, salvage run-off. Known issue for at least 15 years that I can recall. Never should have come to this. Detroit should have worked something out at the time. Embarrassing and unforgivable. They better not get away with it. They screwed up and they know it.

so city council votes to stop using DWSD in 2013, the EPA stood by and didn't catch the problem, but it's the fault of the Governor?

A republitard is anyone who regularly makes turd look like the fool that he is. If you disagree with him and all the op-Ed articles from libtard websites that he posts as "studies" and "facts" then you're a racist republitard. If you don't fall in line with his libtard nonsense it won't be long before he ascribes beliefs to you, says you said things you never said and hurls more accusations at you that more aptly fit him. He's easily the the biggest (probably only) actual racist that posts here and he's an idiot - and an angry one at that.

Are those really facts? Since you no doubt did your homework, do you have a link to the proof of those facts? Was the Huron project killed? Everything I read said it was still going to happen and the controversy stems from the decision to leave DWSD early and temporarily get water from the river while the KWA project was being built.

And now both emergency managers (Michael Brown and Darnell Early - both Democrats) from around that time are fighting back from all the accusations. Both have denied making the decision to switch to Flint River water as the interim supply and that the decision was made by the same elected city council that voted 7-1 to switch from Detroit to Lake Huron water. If this was Snyder's fault, why aren't these two Democrats scapegoating him instead of the all Democrat city council? Their revelations are consistent with the (powerless) democratically elected, Democrat mayor of Flint who said there was no interference from the Governor's office in the decision to switch water suppliers. This is also backed up by the fact that at the time, State officials were preoccupied with trying to help Detroit avoid bankruptcy (LOL, like that was possible) and losing Flint as a water customer would make that much, much harder.

Here's an article that details What Earley said in an email about his lack of involvement in the decision and who actually made the call - no mention of the Governor or any of his staff or appointees - the Democrat, Darnell Earley clearly states it was the mayor and the City Council...
http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2015/10/ex_emergency_manager_earley_sa.html

But never mind all that - don't consider the other side of the story as you may hear some facts that interfere with good ole Republican bashing and where's the fun in that?

I feel like Republitards are cherry picking stats and statements out of context to prove this whole thing wasn't Snyder & his Emergency Manager law's fault.

still pretty damning that all along, Snyder and his staff were ignoring and even belittling complaints about the water after the switch, instead of doing something about it. link.

Of course, whenever someone shows more proof (i.e. actual credible evidence) than what you've actually been able to provide to support your opinion, you think they're cherry picking stats and taking statements out of context. It's much easier to say how you feel about their arguments than actually refute it with actual evidence.

LOL, yes it is cherry picking. You look at the mountain of evidence here: Snyder appointed the doofus emergency manager; the EM made the decision to use the Flint River instead of continuing to buy water from Detroit while the eventual direct link with Lake Huron water was made.

On top of that, at least for oh not less than ALL OF 2015, Snyder's office was aware of the problem and did NOTHING.

I think someone also needs to go to the Michigan offices of the health departments that did the testing that showed the water was clean and fit for human consumption and clean house. their methodology was clearly insufficient, if not outright fraud

you understand how "authority" and "accountability" works, right? the boss can't duck responsibility for a problem by claiming he delegated it to some low level factotem that he appointed. Snyder can't duck responsibility by releasing an email showing that his office "expressed concern" at some point.

Bill Schuette is a real piece of work as well... I'm sure his "investigation" opened long after the children of Flint suffered debilitating lead poisoning and 10 people are dead from Legionnaires disease will sort this mess out.
