Suh is gone, no use bitching about it any longer. It had been tending this way for a long long time now. But where do the lions go from here? I don't see any real rumors of interest. And that kind of worries me. The lions better real in a couple of good starters with the remaining salary cap. But what happens if they don't? I'm kind of worried given the complete silence out of the state of Michigan.

I'm in the Vilfork for 2 or 3 years, draft a fatty in the meantime, switch to 3-4 camp...

At least they are probably not guilty of tampering...like Miami.

Do you really think tampering is why he left Detroit though? It may have played a part in where he landed, but he was never coming back here.

Technically speaking, since the terms of the negotiating period have been violated, the commish could void every one of these deals and prevent teams from signing these players.

I doubt he would go that far, but by all reports, he's livid. One reporter this morning said Goodell has never been this angry before, not even when the Ray Rice video hit the media.

He could really put the hammer down on all these teams that have "agreed" with players already, since the rules state that teams may submit their "negotiating position" but may not make an "offer" yet.

Can't really do much. Not Suh's fault or other players. Wouldn't be fair to then to take money off the table.

Only the Lions... You hardly see other superstar drafted players leave the team that drafted them this early in their careers...This is Mayhews and Lewands fault... Both should be fired...

what would be better would be draft picks to the team of the exiting player...as long as it isn't a 2nd round pick!

They offered him 17 per. Miami decided to over pay on top of an overpay offer by 2 per.

Miami is nice. Detroit is a terrible terrible city.

Get a nice city and then maybe Mayhew/Lewand could do something.

I suppose that logic explains why Calvin Johnson is still here, right?

You're reaching with this bad city crap. You had it right on the overpay. Suh wanted the money. He said he would play for whoever paid the most. Miami made a nearly retarded offer.

He took it, end of story.

Actually, he really could here. A couple of years ago, and I forget which player it was, but someone signed a contract that had a sort of "poison pill" clause in it. Nothing like the Nate Burleson clause, but something that could be a form of poison pill.

Goodell voided the contract due to the language violating league policy and prohibited the team from signing the player. Wasn't the player's fault, but Goodell still laid the hammer down.

In this case, the league's policy on the negotiating window is clear, and the NFL even sent a memo reminded all 32 teams of the policy on Friday. The policy was violated. He really could do exactly the same thing with all of these contracts.

I think the hard part would be the lawsuits that would follow. Starting early Saturday morning, the NFL mobile app started giving me updates on who agreed with who. Which means the NFL itself was leaking this news.

It could be easily argued in court the players, the agents, and the teams didn't leak the news.. the NFL did through their own website and mobile app. And i would imagine the argument would hold up really well too.

He would have the power to strip Miami of draft picks and give them to the team victimized by the tampering. Wouldn't put it past him to do that. You want to violate the rules? Well you just forfeited your first round pick. Do it again and risk more picks being stripped.

But he's not going to prevent guys from signing at those places. No poison pill either..

I will settle for getting Miami's R1 pick. Sure beats getting nothing for Suh. Lol

Me too but if they did something it'd problem be comp pick or maybe a much lower Miami pick.. How would they even prove it. Could have been anyone, the agent or even player.

Now to nitpick, but this is a violation of the team, not the player, so there is no CBA at all governing what he can and can't do.

He technically has unlimited powers here, as governed by the league bylaws.

If he damned well wanted to, he could suspend a team for a year.

I doubt however, we see anything more than a slap on the wrist fine since a few of the owners in question here help determine his next contract.

25K "stop it" fines for all 32 teams, to be placed in a pool and divided among all teams as compensation for the tampering.

Sure but he won't.

On a side note the owners love Goodell so will be go at them big or weasel out?
