Okay, it's almost over.

you think the 3rd party vote was a repudiation of Trump and not Hillary? If you had more palatable candidates from both major parties I'd expect more of the Johnson vote to go republican.

I think a bigger share of people who normally vote Democrat went independent then those that normally vote Republican.

And yes if the race was Biden vs. Kaisch I'd guess Gary Johnson gets less than 1%

I've read from a few sources that this was probably the lowest voter turnout since 2004. I think it's difficult to blame 3rd party voters when they at least showed up to vote.

Obama generated excitement within the voter base. There is nothing exciting about a candidate that was pre ordained to be nominated and has the personality of a tool shed. DNC should be ashamed of themselves.

I have read that too, but also the opposite. USA Today reported turnout was up 4.7% this year.

Also, I don't recall if it has been pointed out, but Hillary is ahead and likely wins the popular vote.

Irrelevant I know, but it does make me feel slightly better about the population of my country.

120m or so people voting and a 200k lead makes you feel better about the population? It's virtually split..

Voter registration was at an all time high, I didn't expect lower turnout, that's for sure.

I'm still pretty horrified with the population of my country for leaving us with the choice between these two in the first place.

I do think more 3rd party voting would create pressure on the 2 big parties to produce better candidates that appeal more broadly. If you can't count on the extremes, you'd quit catering to them, and go after the middle more.

Thanks.

I think I would be starting at about the back of the line in either party though.

Run for the Wolverine Party.

Without getting into my loathe for the current political / two party system, I believe this election is a good example as to why voting in the primaries is important. It gives the people a chance to choose who they want to vote for come the election.

If more people voted in the primaries, then (in theory) we wouldn't be stuck choosing between the two most unpopular candidates of all time. That being said, the American political system is completely broken, so who knows what difference (if any) increased primary voting turnout would have achieved.

I can't speak for Sanders but the other pub primary candidates sucked.. I was going for Rubio at the start but that wasn't a cracker jack list of candidates.. Not sure how any of them win if everyone voted..

I wonder if Bob and Turok still wish they'd sold their houses like they said when the Dow futures were down 4.2% The market is up 1.4% today, must be the angry white racist bid buoying stocks or perhaps the world isn't in full blown panic afterall. Probably has something to do with not everyone being a chicken little nut job.

How old do I need to be considered an angry white racist?
