I've been trying to get Opening Day tickets the past 3-4 seasons. I live 4 hrs away so buying a season ticket package that qualifies as priority just ain't gonna happen. I've done the day tickets go on sale thing of trying to get tickets. That don't work either because the bazillion scalpers buy them and mark them up gazillion % and resell them.

This year I did a prr-emptive strike with a season ticket holder. I got seats in the pavillion (never sat there before) sec 151 in row C. I got them for $145 a piece yes I know a far cry from the I believe about $40 or so retail but danget I wanna be there!

Anyone else going?

145 bucks for Pavilion? Damn son, that's some green, opening day or not. I had season tickets the last 6 years at Tigers stadium and the first year at Comerica park. Haven't been to an opening day since. I don't enjoy baseball when its really cold. And its too risky to bet on it being warm.

Go big or go home Mitch. I'm ready to rawk out at Comerica.

I guess I will have to catch it on FSD....Have fun and be safe..

Make sure to bring your winter garb. I'll be inside with my honey and food. Sandwiches, brats, root-beer and whole bunch of other stuff.

Man I'm ready for summer having either the game on my laptop or the radio going on the back porch grilling up some steaks.

I will be at the Rockies Home Opener vs SF ...paid $119 for 1/2 way btw 1st base & right field foul poll. Can't wait, Opening Day is the best!

A crew of us went to 93 Tigers opener vs Oakland (I think it was 93). The Tigers won 20-4 or someting and Tettleton and Deer went yard. We were in left field and heckling Rickey Henderson a little bit and he'd actually talk back in fun between pitches.

These days I watch almost all games on TV but back in the day, afternoon games on the radio with Ernie were the best. I wish he was still around doing games.

I think they scored 20 the next day as well or day after. I slightly remember them having two 20 run games in the opening series.

[/quote:zf5guoc5]I'm not old enough to really remember Ernie but I usually watch it on MLB.tv because that's the only way I can watch it so when I don't feel like watching it or can't I just listen to the radio and chill. Dickerson isn't terrible it's just he doesn't talk about much or he just keeps repeating the same things over and over.

I went to opening day 1985.. Morris did his typical HOF work in the cold as he walked 6 and struck-out 6 but only gave up 6 hits......LOL Maybe the 666 was a sign of things come that season.
The Tigers won 5-4 over the indians and Sparky declared Chris Pittaro the second coming at third base when he went 3 for 4 at the plate.. Hernandez got the save and we all thought the repeat season was on......LOL

LOL...yup.. At least Gibby had a decent career. I thought I heard Pittaro's name mentioned in Moneyball as a scout but my mind is fuzzy as usual...

Guys this threads about me ok. HAHA! I feel bad cuz i'm 28 but I have no ties to Ernie Harwell. My dad didn't have anything to do with sports. I found them on my own and started collecting thousands of baseball cards. Now i'm a fantasy spaz the past 15 years for this thing we call baseball. I can't get enough of it. I went to my first tigers game in 2005 watched Carlos Pena smack a monster HR to CF vs the Mariners. It was a great experience have behind home plate seats for way cheap. Then the team exploded and I've been to games each year since except 2010.

I was at the 2006 ALDS game 3 @ home when Kenny Rogers shutout the Yankees. It was awwwwesome!

I like Dan Dickerson on the radio I don't get why others don't seem to like him. I think he paints a great picture.

Bass

Very nice but i look at it this way. Once your a Tiger fan get get to be part of the Tiger history as a fan. From the dead ball era all the way to the teams first title and those two great teams of the 30's. Through 40's, including 1945, and the 60's and every year... With 1984 being the best for me.. Getting 8 free dominoes pizza's the night the won it all LOL.. I was born in 1961 and just have vague memories of the 1968 world series but after that season and starting in 1969 it was full bore Tiger fan for me.. I was pretty lucky my dad liked all sports probably football first because I remember watching football games with him and hating the Vikings the whole decade of the 1970's but I was so pissed when the A's beat the tigers in the ALCS in 1972 and I was only 11 HA...IT sounds like you have been to way more important games that I have so i am jealous... Plus your going to live longer damn it... But KC and TY , and some others have great stories about the Tigers even before my time.. I like Dickerson alot and I think he is just as good as Ernie was.. His call on Magglio's home run is a classic..

I was ruined by Ernie I guess so other announcers don't hold much appeal to me. What are the names of those two that replaced Ernie right away, I can't remember -- It was goodbye baseball was their call sign? I hated those dudes :). But anyway you slice it, baseball is awesome.
