Origin of "little brother"

I was looking for a link and I can't find it. Mike Hart didn't start the little brother thing. It was actually a Spartan. Maybe Drew Stanton. But I can't find an article about it because the whole thing blew up when Hart said it.

Somebody, either Smoker or Stanton had that article/interview where he lashed out at Carr for not recruiting him and talked about how much hatred he had for Michigan because of it ..... and how disrespected he felt ... "little brother"

And for the record, my little brother went to MICHIGAN ... arrived in A2 about 8 days after I moved out.

Really, I always thought it was just Hart speaking on the fly. Maybe Stanton called us big brother or something - but I'm pretty sure Hart came up with the little brother thing; or at least he wasn't referencing a previous event where someone used the name.

Nope. In fact, at some point I think he even said something like "That's how they describe themselves, so that's how I think of them." It's sort of ridiculous that people aren't aware of it.

...not that that's the actual origin of "little brother" in my searching, I saw Detroit papers using the phrase in '99. Who knows how long the idea has been out there.

It's been around longer than what I'm talking about, but use of the term skyrocketed after the Mike Hart clip. ...but the media really dropped the ball not referencing the Spartan that talked about being little brother the week before.
