OT: beer choices

hey! at least yours is 10.5% alcohol. I doubt mine was that strong. If nothing else, you can slam yours and get a good buzz.

That will be my strategy if it tastes like shit. $5 for the pint, it's definitely going down the hatch, not the sink. ;-)

I paid $1.75

I was surprised when i saw that, because most of the beers on that shelf are $4 or more. I guess I got what I paid for...

Well, if "Criminally bad elf" tastes anything like the barley wine style ale that i just had called "monster ale" then it'll taste like dog shit and you'll our half of it out in the sink...

Was it Brooklyn Monster Ale? That's a barley wine...10% or so. A lot of people don't like barley wines. They don't think beer should be that sweet. My Christmas ale was like that. I like it, but my neighbors aren't as into this one as they usually are.

It isn't sweet. It tastes like how I imagine shit to taste like. I just checked and it's 10.1% alcohol...i might have to throw in some fireball and drink it after all

hahaha

HAHAHAH!

I just saw my receipt. The santa's butt was $4, the criminally bad elf was $7. I don't care if it tastes like shit. I'm drinkin' it. Lol.

ahhaha that's some funny shit...of course, i'm drunk right now, so just about everything is funny, but so what?

The only beer I've ever poured out is Blatz.

I was just reading about a beer called Armageddon. 65% alcohol, 130 proof.... Can anyone say alcohol poisoning... Whoa..

Also, props to Byco for using "Dad-gum" in a post. You're really turning into a southerner.

I get bored sticking to any one style though. I'd be happy sticking with the right rotation of go-to beers though.

Old Rasputin
Two Hearted and Hopslam
Raison D'etre
At least one of the Unibrous, probably Don de Deux
Three Philosophers
Rochefort 10
Weihenstephaner's Hefe
Some saison, jolly pumpkin makes a good one.
Founders porter
Victory Prima pils

PBR

Have you tried the old Rasputin aged in bourbon barrel? That is tasty
St Bernardus
Founders breakfast and porter
Snowdrift vanilla porter from leinenkugel
Any Sierra Nevada is good
Newcastle

How on earth do brewers do this? It's a semi recent development. Yeast dies in high alcohol environments.

No, but I bet it's great. I love Ola Dub 30 and Oaked Arrogant Bastard.

Oskar Blues -- Dale's Pale Ale, Yella Pils, Da Gubna, et al - is the real deal CO microbrew nowadays and I'm proud of my childhood neighbor from TC who reps Bell's Up North!

Never had ola, Arrogant Ruination is good I'll try that Oakes next time at the Anderson's

Vic bells has good beers, the stout and porter are good, 3rd coast too

Oh, I LOVE Bell's and you have to understand -- you can't get Bell's west of Chicago. It's not uncommon for someone to bring a sixer of Oberon (Solsun), 3rd Coastor or even just the Amber Ale (better than Fat Tire, IMO as a 40yr old who likes to drink) back from MI to CO.

Not to be a dork but Oskar Blues is only avail in cans (or draught) based on the camping maxim of "Pack it In, Pack it Out" so you can stomp your cans and recycle them at the trailhead.

And Hippies really do make pretty good beer.

Speaking of this, if you're ever in Louisana, try some Abita. They have several good selections and if you buy it there, it's the same price as Budweiser. I drank a lot of it when I went to Baton Rouge a few years back. I came back to MI and it was twice as expensive!

Anyway, I tend to stick with Mickeys grenades, still, to back up my shots of ol' No. 7.

I couldn't bring bottles to a festival and I couldn't find any fat tire so I tried dales and was very underwhelmed.

So I'm currently enjoying the Criminally Bad Elf and its not horrible. I kept the pint in the fridge and enjoyed it in small portions in a snifter glass. It has a nice amber hue like a cognac and a malty/boozy aroma. It's fairly smooth with a sweet hoppy finish. Definitely a sipping beer not something you'll want to chug. I would buy it again.

It's nice and strong, I'm feeling it after just 1 pint.

I know they didn't have a far reaching dist. I remember a few years ago they quit selling it in Chicago and my sister and brother in-law were not very happy.

I like some of the 21st amendment beers I've had, they come in cans which is a better way to store beer some think.

I'm about to drink a home brew my sisters boyfriend made, Troll Sweat. Its a Brett IPA
