Hi

I thought I'd start this thread for basketball. We can use it as an ongoing thread if anyone wants to talk about NCAA basketball games involving teams other than University of Michigan.

This can be games that directly affect Michigan or have no known affect whatsoever!!

Go blue!

12/8/18 update

#9 Kentucky goes down to unranked Seton Hall in the City Hoops Classic (whatever that is)

Seton Hall hit a go ahead 3 with 1.1 seconds left in regulation. UK countered with a half court shot to send it to OT. Seton Hall guy nailed a 3 to go up with about 4 seconds left in OT. Gotta love it whenever UK goes down.

#2 Kansas held on to win against New Mexico St by 3 points.

Unranked Marquette beat #12 Wisconsin 74-69. I don't know how good UW will be this season.

#21 Villanova lost to Furman after losing to Michigan, but has won every game since. They won yesterday 70-58 over Saint Joseph.

#25 Furman is 10-0 and won again yesterday, beating South Carolina Upstate 74-60.

#24 Nebraska is doing well this year. They defeated Creighton 94-75. Usually Creighton is one of those teams that the talking heads always want to talk up from the smaller divisions. They have 3 losses this year already, so I don't know how good they are.

Games Today (Sunday 12/9/18)

VCU plays #4 Virginia at 1:30pm

#7 Tennessee plays #1 Gonzaga at 3pm

Purdue plays Texas at 6pm

That Seton Hall Game was wild. I only saw the highlights but kudos to the Pirates for recovering from that tying long bomb from Kentucky and regrouping in ot for the win.

Buffalo and Furman are both fantastic mid majors. #5 Nevada 9-0 was trailing #20 Arizona st now 7-1. It was in the Hall of Fame Classic tournament in Los Angeles trialing at halftime 36-24. Out scored ASU 38-20 in the second half. Nevada, Buffalo, and Furman are all legit teams that will probably get a ncaa bid even if they get upset in their conference tournaments.

The South Carolina game showed that Athletic teams with length will give Michigan fits. They caused a lot of turnovers. Also teams with bigs can exploit our inside with high low action. What do you think H?

Ncaa power rankings.

Michigan #5.
Msu #13.
Wisconsin #14.

I think the top part is in the wrong thread. HaHa. This should go in one of the Michigan basketball threads

I don't think much of the NCAA power rankings at this point in the season.

I don't know if Wisconsin is really that good. I thought they'd take a step back this season.

Virginia beat VCU by 8

Watching Tennessee play Gonzaga now. Gonzaga holding onto a small lead.

Tennessee just upset Gonzaga 76-73

I was watching, but the wife changed the channel, so I missed the end...

thanks, honey

The Vols look tough . Only Loss was to Kansas in ot. Beat Louisville, and Gonzaga seems good.

Hope you guys have been well! Haven't posted here in forever, just thought I would say hello.

Purdue lost to Texas. Purdue seems like a one man team.

12/11/18

Today, #17 Villanova plays Penn on ESPN2 at 7pm EST

#23 undefeated Furman plays Charleston Southern at 7:30pm on ESPN3

Loyola (MD) plays at Maryland at 7PM on BTN.

I guess Maryland dropped out of the top 25 after losing to Purdue. I don't really understand that, but OK.

North Florida plays at Minnesota at 9pm on BTN

I saw the coaches poll last week. They had 8 Big10 teams in the top 25. I can't imagine that the Big10 is that good this year.

Penn with the big upset. First time they've beat Nova since 2002.

Penn looks like a tough ncaa out if they get in. They improve to 9-2. #23 Furman improves to 11-0 with 77-69 win over Charleston Southern.
