Wisconsin is struggling against UNC. And Notre Dame is absolutely dominating Wichita State.

I have Notre Dame beating Kentucky in the next round in my bracket. Too bad I had Iowa State winning it all...what a smart choice.

So glad Wisc knocked them out. Kentucky pressing from the tip, I wish we'd press more.

Kentucky is making these guys look like the need to go back to pee wee league.

I hate watching Kentucky win. I guess cheaters do win in life

Me too! Id like to see them lose more than I wanted the Miami Heat to lose the past few years. Not over yet but there is a slim chance they wont win it all. They havent played shit yet, I wish they had more of a challenge this round. Blob Huggins not happy...

Notre dame is the best team that they will play all year to this point. Beating Kentucky down low is close to impossible, so a 3 point shooting team has the best chance in my opinion. Notre dame spaces the floor really well and if they're hot watch out!!

Ok, Kentucky is much better than WVU but these wussies arent even trying. literally no hustle on D, no emotion, no effort whatsoever and its totally obvious. Izzo would be red faced and irate to the point of spontaneous combustion. They quit before the game started, pretty embarrassing for a coach to watch this lack of effort.

Ha! I had Iowa State winning it all too. Fun while it lasted right?

West Virginia's fatal flaw is they don't shoot well. Against Kentucky that'll kill you because you're not getting much, if anything, inside against them. Not making shots also prevented WV from being able to set up their press. Kentucky can be beaten, but their A game is pretty scary. Notre Dame can make shots and might hang around, but doesn't have nearly enough inside compared to some of the other contenders like Duke, AZ, and UW.

As for Wisconsin, again a fairly hard-fought win. The thing about that team is they are very poised and clutch. North Carolina was shooting it well and wouldn't go away, just like Oregon last weekend, but in the final 5 minutes of a game Wisconsin always seems to be able to execute and get the big baskets to keep an opponent at bay. Them vs Arizona for the Elite 8 rematch should be a great one.

One of my friends who never watches college basketball picked UAB because their "mascot was cool looking." I try to catch as many games as I can during the season, but it never helps while picking my bracket.

EDIT: I do however have a homer bracket every year with MSU winning, so I guess that one is still intact.

Too funny - this is the first year since probably '99 that I don't have state winning it all either in a real or homer bracket. I did have them in the elite 8 of my real bracket this year, losing to Villanova but that thing is now a placemat. I was looking it over at the kitchen table the other day while my 3.5 year old was drawing pictures. She goes "look dad", holds up a sheet of paper w/ a bunch of red "Xs" on it and says "I drawed the same thing as you!"

I was hoping for UNC last night, not only do I not like Wisconsin but I always want MSU to be the last Big Ten team standing. Bo Ryan is the only Big Ten coach i really don't like but Crean is making me think twice, I don't like Ryan because it seems like he gets every call but goes crazy when they do get called for a foul.

It turns out they foul a little more out of conference, it could be the result of a lot of things including the scouting reports but I think the Wisconsin reputation has a lot to do with it. They got called for just about 11 fouls per game in confernce vs 14 out of conference, 3 more per game. in general, out of conference you get called for less because you play worse competition on average, you might get 3-4 evenly matched games before the tournament but there are at least 10 or so that you should always win. when you have more talent than another team they're more prone to fouling, on top of that most good power conference teams play the majority of their non conference at home where you get more favorable calls.

For the record, MSU is getting called for about the same in the big ten vs outside of conference play

also, it looks like UNC played really well, shot well from the floor, 46% and great from 3, 62% and they only turned it over 4 times. The big difference in that one was Wisconsin being + 7 in rebounds and getting 8 more points from the line (a function of 5 more shots but shooting 87% vs UNC's 66%)

It is unreal how many bullshit fouls get called in Wisconsin's favor every game, I pray Arizona beats them

Kentucky hanging in by getting all the calls and shooting free throws. Also ND 2-10 from 3.
