8 teams.

6 conference champions and 2 at large teams. Teams will be seeded according to where they are in the bcs ranking. I suppose a bcs committee would have to choose the 2 at large teams, which may still cause controversy, but it would be more fair than the current system.

AQ conferences - the six highest rated conferences. I believe this year SEC is one, B12 is two, Big 10 is 3??? P12 is 4, ACC is 5, and Big East is 6????? Really not sure.

Just a note: I used the traditional BCS games and the two bowls i consider to be the best after those BCS bowls, so I guess the two non bcs bowls could be substituted for something else if need be. Also, in this system, the six bowl games would be cycled each year so different bowls would be in the second round each year and in different seeds. Also, all of the other bowl games would take place, but they would have no affect on the playoffs...that way everyone still makes their money.

1 vs 8 - Cotton Bowl
4 vs 5 - Orange Bowl
2 vs 7 - Rose Bowl
3 vs 6 - Capital One Bowl

Next games:

1 vs 4 - Sugar Bowl
2 vs 3 - Fiesta Bowl

Championship game

1 vs 2 - BCS National Title Game

Change it to 5 conference champs and 3 at larges.

Big east is losing the decent teams it has.

yeah, i was thinking that as well...could even be okay with the top 4 conferences and 4 at large. you'd also have to limit the playoff spots per conference to two.

Yeah, I'd probably go with only 4 conference champions and then 4 at large bids.

Top four of the old bowls (as ranked by their highest ranked participant) = 1st round of an 8 team playoff. That lets all the old bowl players go back to business as usual and gives us a playoff...and you don't have to worry about which conferences are stronger than others or autobids or any of that.
