To help Dad
He had an apparent Mini-stroke the saturday before new years and spent several days in hospital and then to rehab as he was weak. I came down to help on the 6th. The same day he tried to get out of bed when the nurse had left room for a few seconds. He fell and hit head so back to hospital. They diagnosed aspirational pneomonia and we still thought he'd go back to rehab and then memory care. 2 hours later we found out he lost the swallow reflex (a complication if Alzheimer's) and ge had advanced directives. We started at hime hospice on the 8th and passsed this morning. As he said he had 90 great years and 3 not so good ones. We were blessed to have him as long as we did.

We are heading back to Cleveland tomorro and funeral is Sunday in that horrible cold and snow.

Later today I received a job offer at UNLV. A grade down fom the job i interviewed for and reporting to the person who got the job but that is okay.

G-d works in mysterious ways

So sorry Michlady. Very sad. Glad he had a full life.

My heartfelt sympathy to you Michlady and your family.
Loved ones could live another 10 years and it's still going to be too soon for them to leave us.
Hope your lifetime of many cherished memories gets you through this difficult time.

I feel you. It was rough like that at the end for both my parents, too.

EDIT: On a happier note, when you move to Vegas, we’ll be neighbors again.

Sorry to hear the bad news, ML, but the part about him having 90 good years is comforting (far outweighs 3 bad ones).

Glad to hear you got a job with UNLV.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm glad you're heading somewhere with little-to-no snow (assuming you're accepting the offer).

Sorry to hear about your dad ML. Sending hugs and prayers your way. Congrats on the job though.

Condolences to you and your family, ML. Glad he had 90 great years and happy to see you got the new job with UNLV.

Indeed, mysterious ways.

Sorry for your loss but I’m sure it was great comfort to your Dad that you were able to be there.

Funeral was Sunday. Horrible Weather

Rabbi sent a record for quickest time at cemetery (eulogies were st funeral home and some actual showed up)
