Verlander is SP.

Last televised game of the Tigers' Grapefruit League season, IIRC.

Phillies currently lead 1-0 in the top of the third inning. Tigers have already committed two errors on just one player (Revere) who led off the first on consecutive throwing errors to first by Peralta and then to second by Verlander, which led to Revere scoring.

Tigers batters aren't doing Jack Squat vs Hamels, w/only 1 hit being a two-bagger by Hunter, and a BB by Miggy. However JV has had RISP by the Phillies in each inning that he has pitched. He had managed to get out of almost every jam until the 4th, when the Phillies scored again on an RBI single. Tigers go down 1-2-3 again, score remains 2-0 Phillies top of the 5th.

Blast from the past: Zach Miner in to relieve Hamels in the bottom of the 5th annnd...the Tigers go down 1-2-3 for the third consecutive inning....sheesh!!

Verlander starts the top 6th and is lifted by Leyland w/2 outs by ...Jessie Todd (who?)

Tigers finally get on the scoreboard in the bottom 6th, on a single by Avila, who advanced to second on a Miner WP, then to third on a groundout by Omar, then scored on a SF by AJax. Tigers threatened to score more w/2 outs, on a single by Hunter and a BB to Miggy, who was replaced by PR Worth, but Zack Ked Fielder swinging.

Rondon in to pitch the top 7th, gives up a run on consecutive singles and a SB by Inciarte and Revere and a groundout by ex-Ranger Young. Rondon remains in trouble giving up a walk, a run-scoring balk, and yet another walk..and he's outta there!!

Phillies lead 4-1.

just got home . game on the computer ESPN, for those that do not have III . Looks sunny down there.

Bastardo relieves Miner, Tigers go down 1-2-3 for the 4th time in the game, Phillies still lead 4-1 after 7 full.

Davis relieves Avila, Downs remains in the game as Tigers RP, Kelly relieves Fielder @ first, Diaz relieves Peralta @ SS. After Downs has an uneventful IP, w/ 2 Ks swinging, the Tigers go down yet again 1-2-3 in the bottom 8th. But the batters were Wright, Santiago and Davis...so...

Tigers' bats have taken a FL beach vacation today, w/ a measly 3 hits.

Marte relieves Downs & gives up only a single, last call for the Tigers bottom 9th.

Tigers again go down 1-2-3 in the bottom 9th, Phillies win 4-1. Collins, Worth and Jones were the batters. Regardless, sometimes the Tigers will just stink it up @ the plate, as well as on the field..

I know its Cole Hammels and spring training and all. But I sure hope the tigers have been practicing hitting left handed pitching this year. 3 hits using the projected starting lineup through 6 innings, doesnt make it look good.

ST games are useless gauging if the Tigers are ready or if they are any good. No use trying. It's a freakin' ST game.
