Watching the debates at the moment, what's the drawback on Rubio that's keeping him behind in the polls? He seems to be crushing these other guys. Is it just because he's younger? Please enlighten this voter that leans neither extremely right or left.

IMO, he isn't as crazy as the other guys and doesn't constantly spew controversial statements. The whole dry mouth/thirsty response to the State of the Nation speech probably didn't help.

I would never vote for trump, Carson or Cruz. But rubio, bush, and Christie are guys I might consider. Don't agree with them on most things, but I'm tired of the weakness that the left has been showing since BLM and ISIS appeared. Still a democrat lean, but mostly for Social issues like gay marriage and religion.

not sure, but from what I can tell, the knock on his political career is that it has been repeatedly rescued by a couple wealthy GOP donors in FL who write him big checks whenever he fails at managing his personal finances. I think he's been close to bankruptcy a couple times. it was always stupid stuff too. In one story I read, he came into some GOP-donor-largesse and the first thing he did was run out and buy a pricey cigarette boat, or a yacht or something like that which immediately sank him back into debt.

I don't know if it's ever happened that a sitting US Senator had to file chapter 11. would be pretty embarrassing for a US president to have to do that. LOL, would Capital One try to take out a lien on the White House to cover his debts?

Haha! If true, that's pretty bizarre.

it is true. he is a dumbass:
WEST MIAMI, Fla. — For years, Senator Marco Rubio struggled under the weight of student debt, mortgages and an extra loan against the value of his home totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. But in 2012, financial salvation seemed to have arrived: A publisher paid him $800,000 to write a book about growing up as the son of Cuban immigrants.

In speeches, Mr. Rubio, a Florida Republican, spoke of his prudent plan for using the cash to finally pay off his law school loans, expressing relief that he no longer owed “a lady named Sallie Mae,” as he once called the lender.

But at the same time, he splurged on an extravagant purchase: $80,000 for a luxury speedboat, state records show. At the time, Mr. Rubio confided to a friend that it was a potentially inadvisable outlay that he could not resist. The 24-foot boat, he said, fulfilled a dream.
Some people dream of world peace. Some dream of ending poverty. Some dream of a better future for their children. He dreamed of a fast boat.

more:
Many of those troubles have played out in an unusually public way, leading even some of his supporters to worry. As he rose in politics, he sometimes intermingled personal and political money — using a state Republican Party credit card years ago to pay for a paving project at his home and for travel to a family reunion, and putting his relatives on campaign payrolls.
Other moves seemed simply unwise: A few weeks ago, he disclosed that he had liquidated a $68,000 retirement account, a move that is widely discouraged by financial experts and that probably cost him about $24,000 in taxes and penalties.

These polls are stupid.

By March - after voters have actully started to elect actual delegates - Rubio is going to be a bigger factor.

So will Christie though; maybe Bush and even Kasich.

Neither Trump nor Carson is going to be the nominee.

Neither is going to win a single primary.

Both will be out by tax day.

Don't tell me; let me guess - the title of the book is The Audacity of Hope?

No doubt. Wasn't Hilary up like 30 points or something crazy in 2012 at this point and ended getting kicked to the curb by Obama?

I think Rubio is a climate change denier. I hate where the GOP has landed on this issue, where candidates need to play some form of dumb to get elected, but I really don't like the ones that embrace it.

Not to imply that my opinions explain anything going on in the polls. It seems like madness to me and I have no idea why it is the way it is.

close. it's called "The Audacity of My Mother's Cuban Sandwich"

see, his mother made really good Cuban sandwiches. and they were all Republitards because Castro was so bad, so rich Republitards in Florida paid them for those Cuban sandwiches at an 8000% markup. it's how they were able to survive. it's called Living The American Dream.

Which were the best? Pollo, carne or carnitas?

Well that changes everything. I'd vote for the candidate that promises me a good Cuban sandwich.

Not to imply we don't already have that in Durham. We've got the real deal. Dude left Cuba seeking political asylum. http://www.ourstate.com/old-havana-sandwich-shop/
