Racism alive and well in Texas

Umm, what racism?

I'm not sure you understand what that word means.

no, YOU do not grasp the FACT that this person has been fired for making racist comments.

Finally we are seeing enlightened people recognize racism is not solely a Caucasian prejudice, but is something every race must strive to stop using to demean and belittle another race. Racism is no longer being looked at as one-sided, which is great news... for only through every race accepting as equals each and every other race can we finally remove racial definitions and all become members of the only race that matters, Human.

Seriously man, you make a whole thread titles "Racism alive and well in Texas" and that's it?

Did this teacher unfairly grade her white, latino, or asian students? Because that would be racism.

This:

Later that evening another tweet appeared, saying, "You exhibit nigga behavior, I'm a call you a nigga. You acting crackerish, I'm a call you a cracker." Hegwood is African-American.

Is not really racism.

Sounds to me like she's calling a spade a spade (no pun intended) with what is pretty common, almost accepted vernacular anymore. The N word has become almost mainstream for crying out loud.

It's also worth pointing out, that she resigned. The school board just didn't accept it, and then decided to fire her, so they could make a headline about what is really nothing at all.

And reading your sentence beginning with "Finally we are seeing enlightened people recognize" just made me LOL. Get the microchip in your head looked at.

Explain how her words are not racist when if a white person says it you and your fellow haters of white people would be pissed about it, probably forming a march or other form of hopefully peaceful protest (as opposed to some people who would potentially use this as an excuse for non-peaceful actions which is what some miscreants from any background might try because the world is full of such assholes anymore, just look at flash mobs robbing or destroying property for evidence of that).

Racism is as racism says and does. She made racist comments, period.

It is time for society to start holding everyone accountable, not just whites and yes, it is possible to be a racist against your own race, something oft overlooked. Many blacks are no longer so comfortable with the N word being tossed around by blacks so casually, but they tend to be from a more higher education demographic. The fact this lady was an English teacher is appalling in its own way.

Racism is alive and well, but people using racial slurs isn't where the problem is. It's the subtle stuff. You can't pick out the individual cases where racial bias comes into play, but looking at bulk statistics, it's clear the playing field isn't even. If you could fix one or the other, the explicit racism where people speak hatefully about other races or the more subtle racial bias, ending the subtle racism would have more impact by far.

:hmm:

zyxt is the kinda guy who could walk obliviously through a Texas horror film of police brutality of blacks, border patrol agents killing migrants in the desert, etc., and only when he hears a minority use a racial slur, complain about racism...

I don't know what she got fired for...

Was it tweeting niggah, or crackah...?

While were on the subject of racism, I wonder where abdicating turning a whole region of middle eastern people into glass fits in on the zyxt racism scale?

I mean did anyone else read the thread title, then the article and go, ....that's it?

Yeah, I did...

...and I still didn't know if she got canned for tweeting "nigga" or "crackerish..."

Here is what she tweeted, from the link:

"You exhibit nigga behavior, I'm a call you a nigga. You acting crackerish, I'm a call you a cracker."

MichChamp is right; it's bad grammar, and it's bad spelling.

But it's vernacular.

Nobody should be fired for using the vernacular.

I hope there's a backlash of people screaming that she should get her job back; if there is one, I may join it; in fact I may start.

I posted a link to a youtube vid from iBuggsy on another board on this here forum, where Ben Kingsley as Meyer Lansky explains to his friend Ben Siegel that it's not good for him to be in the news...

"....famous Clark Gable is good...famous Joe DiMiggio is good...famous you is not good..."

Teachers...STOP TWEETING!!!

...journalists...GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM PLACES WHERE ISIS CAN CATCH YOU (Unless your mother is Gloria Vanderbilt, and you're a direct descendent of Cornelius Vanderbilt, and you hire a private battalion for security...then knock yourself out...)

Racism is racism, period. From that standpoint glad to see it called out correctly by media.

Wife as union rep constantly tells the teachers at her school to delete all social media accounts for this very reason.

For whatever reason, this thing disturbs me. This firing was stupid and dumb.

She used a racist term for black people, her own race, and a racist (I guess; I don't know if anybody's called me a cracker, but if somebody did I would just laugh) term about white people.

Your wife is right; stop tweeting/posting to facebook and everything else.

This teacher should get her job back, with the warning "stop with the social media, and leave the controversial 'funny' (ha ha) shit to professionals like Bill Maher."

Actually I don't care for the idea she got fired for a tweet. Or if it was a FB post or whatever.

I don't like social media and don't use it simply because it's such a huge invasion of privacy. I actually laugh when I see some dipshit who makes a tweet/facebook post with a little funny pic in it about the NSA or something. It's like they have no sense of irony at all.

But truthfully, this had nothing to do with her work, or seemingly affected it in any way, other than some nosy person ratted her out for it. Suspending her was probably wrong, but the school board were giant pricks for not letting her just resign like she tried, and instead going the extra mile to fire her instead.

Meanwhile some doofus will make a giant thread all about how racism is alive and well in Texas because of something that's not even newsworthy at all except for maybe an improper termination.

I really gonna call the office of that superintendent on Monday morning and tell them that she should give her her job back. I'm gonna say "ya know, public employees gotta have a little more decorum about what they do than any old asshole like me...but you guys went too far with this..."
