Lions have signed Rafael Bush to a one-year deal worth "up to $2.4Mm" per Rothstein.

He pretty much missed all of last season with a torn pec and the year before had the broken leg. Good player his by a few freak injuries. If he can stay on the field, he should be a starter for us.

If not, he's a good paper weight.

We have a ton of money under the cap still don't we? You don't get any bonus points for not spending, make a big splash.

Who are you even talking about?

I'd rather front load a new deal for Slay or Ansah who are known, young, super talented players than spend big money on anyone left that's out there.

I wouldn't mind seeing Akiem Hicks......who has been rumored to be signing with Detroit.....sign a decent deal.

Zach Brown and Alfred Morris are a couple guys who I would give 1 year deals to if they were interested.

We've still got $20M in cap space this year and $12M of CJs money comes off the books next year. We can sign Slay and Ansah.

I get that.....but IF Quinn thinks there isn't anyone worthy to sign long term (there isn't, Okung is the OL version of Broyles) then why not front end load either Slay or Ansah so in the upcoming years we have money to spend on FA or keeping our own players.

Spending money needlessly is bad management ..... in any business.

Lot of holes still to fill. Quinn has done a good job mixing splash (Jones) with low key signings (Whitehead etc.). Okung would be another splash. Whatever the case the money spent on players is certainly needed.

Agreed. And there needs to be cap space "set aside" for June 1st cuts. Spending money one someone like Okung just because we have it would be Millenesque. Okung at the right price is a good sign......Okung at anywhere near what he wants is a bad deal.

But you'll get behind it if it does happen, right?

I think the difference is, if it happens, we will all hope for the best. I personally still won't be "behind it" until I am wrong about it.

I don't want Okung signed to big money. But, I don't write the checks, so it's none of my business until it screws the team over from landing a player they needed but suddenly couldn't afford.

That's the point. I would love them to sign Okung, waiting with baited breath actually. I just can't wait for everyone to "get behind it" when the deal is done. If Okung is wearing a pink jersey for half of next year I'll be wrong and I guarantee those individuals who "get behind everything" will call me on it.

The Giants and Steelers are in the mix and I am really scared the Steelers are going to win this sweepstakes.

Both organizations that you have to agree have done a good job at winning over the years, certainly better than the Lions.

Well, I'm certainly not going to hope Okung fails as a Lion if he's signed. I'll root my ass off for the guy to do well because he's a potential Lion. I just don't want them to sign him for big money.

Ummmmm, do you understand that or are you still confused???

If he signs with the Lions, it will be for big money.

Yeah, I know this, genius. I just don't want them to do it. I think it's a mistake if ANY team gives this guy big money

If you don't want the Lions to sign him for big money, but you know they have to pay big money to sign him. Then you don't want the Lions to sign Okung. Don't cop out. If they can beat out the Steelers for the prize. I'll give you a hollar.

Stfu. Don't tell me wtf I want or don't want. If the Lions can get Okung at a reasonable price then I would gladly accept that. BUT I know he wants big money so I prefer that the Lions don't snatch him up.

It's not about the player, you fkn nitwit. Its about the money. There's a fkn reason why he's still on the market. He may have to take less than what he's asking. This is a business

Yep. Like I do for just about everyone that puts on the Honolulu Blue!!!

I'm a Lions fan. I root for the Lions to win.....even if it means I'm proven "wrong" about the performance of some players.

so..... about that Bush signing.... Better Bush signing than the last one hopefully! But for real I don't mind the deal and hopefully Tavon Wilson isn't lying and will actually doing something at S this season then we just might be ok at safety for like 2 years.
