B.J. Raji, former Packer, has retired from football at the age of 29.

He missed all of 2014 and has a nagging injury that slowed him down in 2015, but was a very productive player the first half of the year.

Pretty surprising to me.

wow - I am surprised at this as well...seemed like he was primed for a good season this year.

Didn't realize he was that old but I'm surprised, I read something last night about a possible trade for him.

Edit: “This game is too hard, and I’ve got too much respect for myself and the Packers to come back just for the sake of money,” Raji said in an exclusive interview. “For the record, I had a very, very nice deal on the table. I had a nice, long-term deal on the table from Green Bay, and I had the interest of some other playoff-contending teams.”

I have literally never heard of a player saying "the game is too hard" before.

That sounds like depression talking.

Maybe with all the concussion & injury talk guys may be just smart and retiring early .

I wonder if he meant to say too hard on the body. That would make sense....I mean, 'too hard' doesnt really make sense for an 8 year vet - its not like hes changing schemes or anything like that.

I have to imagine this is a dude who suddenly feels a lot older (physically) than he should at his age, and decided to give his body a rest.

These guys are making a lot of money early in their careers. If they are smart they should retire as soon as they can. I applaud every one of them that have the balls to quit early.
