Rangers @ Tigers 5-7-2016 Game 29

Take Zimmerman out of the rotation and our starters have a 6.23 ERA. This is a bad baseball team with the worst manager in the sport.

4 of our 5 runs scored reached base via a walk.

Texas has 1 man left on base

Detroit has left 9 on base

Context context context

But how has Texas scored all those runs without walks?

Walks are far from the biggest problem with this team. We've had plenty of runners on base. We just run into far too many dumb outs and don't get the timely hits. One more walk a game isn't gonna fix that.

That being said, anyone that doesn't put starting pitching as our #1 problem so far is an idiot.

Mike Pelfrey: Settled down after two home runs to start the game, but struggled in the sixth inning to finish with a line of 5+ IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 3 SO, 3 HR.

Kyle Ryan and Justin Wilson: Gave up two-run homers in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.

Justin Upton: Went 0-for-3 with three more strikeouts.

Jose Iglesias: While sharp defensively, failed to pick up a hit for the third straight game.

STREAKS AND STATS:

The Tigers scored in three consecutive innings for the first time this season.

Ian Kinsler hit his sixth home run of the season, a total that he did not reach until August last year.

Justin Upton raised his American League strikeout lead to 45.

Until Brad gets this right I'm probebly not going to watch any more of this crap, yes I know the offense isn't the biggest problem but it's infuriating Brad can't figure out this stupid lineup isn't what everyone is best suited for, especially massive disappointment auto k upton

Quality Starts

Verlander + Zimmermann = 10 of 12 starts (7-4 starter record)

All the rest = 2 of 17 starts (5-11 starter record)

Additionally, prior to this game, DET's relief pitching

12th = Runs Allowed Per Game

13th = % of Inherited Runners Scored

Offensively, DET is last in Close/Late games in the AL. They have 48 less PAs in that situation than CLE.

We ended up leaving 12 or 13 men on base. That is why we only scored 1 run. The offense crapped the bed yesterday . as you said Texas had timely hitting. We did not. We had all the opportunity in the world to score more runs but didn't. Pitching didn't help them one bit either. Our starters have been atrocious. It's amazing how this team can rip off 5 wins in a row followed up by 5 embarrassing losses. There are many problems. Starting pitching, hot/cold offense, terrible base running, no plate discipline, sub par coaching to name a few.

I don't like to critique other posters work, and I agree with much of this, except vs 'LHP' with Iggy 1st and Kinsler 2nd. I would keep Kinsler at leadoff.
imo, why change that up because it's working. I think added pressure might be much for Iggy to handle leading off. It would appear that the 2 spot is beginning to act like a curse much like the closer and bullpen for the past fews years. Iggy sprays the ball and has a pretty good OBP.

I have no problem if Iggy is 2nd against LHP.
