I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think if we can pass then we are a dangerous team.

Didn't think we would be the 2nd highest ranked team in the big ten this soon though.

Well, I wuold think that Michigan is better than Illinois and Michigan is one of 3 undefeated teams in the B1G.

I still think the ranking is pretty much meaningless. We'll see how good this team is later in the year. They'll either earn it or they'll get knocked down the rankings.

Rankings are meaningless and pretty much always have been and that said...

Michigan ranked 12th or higher?

Did that used to be a regular thing, or am I having a flashback to Wizard of Oz, or something....?

When U of M beats MSU and NW, then these guys will have earned that ranking. Should they be ranked in the top 25? Yes, but the coaches and AP are overranking them IMO.

way to high 0 we still have a lot to work on

if we continue to improve and win i am happy - but don't like the rankings game

I agree. I was surprised they jumped to 12 when I saw it this morning. Minny isn't good to begin with (though they gave U$C a scare) and losing the starting QB turned them into a punching bag.

As long as Hoke doesn't let the players believe it, which he won't, they'll be ok.

I look at it this way - it's better to be 5-0 and over ranked than it is to be 4-1, 3-2, 2-3, 1-4 or 0-5 and not ranked at all.

If TCU and Boise State can get way up there while not playing anyone, then why not Michigan. CFB scheduling is getting pretty weak for everyone these days.

I totally agree with you. I also told everyone last week that there wasn't really any separation between teams 8-20(not including Oregon). So being ranked where we are, is just fine. We belong there. We have a defense and we have just as many flaws as every other team ranked 8-20. I also say that the offense yesterday scared a lot of people. The playbook is opening up more and preparing for this offense is becoming harder.

Opening up the playbook was huge not only because DCs have to prepare for everything they have seen so far, they also have to think about what new wrinkle UM will use in the next game. Absolutely putting DG at QB with DR in a RB position will have DCs cringing. Never understood why DickRod never did that sort of thing...but it is obvious he wasn't that great of a coach so no real surprise he couldn't think outside the box on that aspect the same way he was unable to think outside the box on anything else.

came here to say the same thing. NU doesn't look great, but they have played 3 road games already - mostly without Persa too. I think that game will be a challenge, but the bigger challenge, and testament to our ranking, will be @MSU in two weeks.

We win there, and we are legitimately good.

yep, win at NW and win in EL and no one will be able to argue that Michigan hasn't proven themselves.

hmmmm

although, i think its interesting I say this considering that I don't really think NW or MSU is that good...

I guess I just won't have to hear it argued, because all of the MSU fans will be crying and the OH* are all strangely silent. Of course, there will be those MSU fans that are coming up with 'reasons' why they lost...but I'll be able to laugh them off if Michigan does win.

Couldn't agree more, win on the road in the Big10 and you may be legit. At this point they haven't really done anything the richrod teams didn't do.

the problem is if we lose to msu or nw then folks will say, see you were overranked

i don't think being undefeated automatically earns a high ranking

oh well - not in our control

Wouldn't we be complaining if they had some 2 loss teams ranked instead of Michigan? I think it's great for the players to see. Now they just have to protect it. These kids are competitive. They wouldn't be playing at this level if they weren't. They won't let up because there is a number in front of the school name. That number isn't 1... Yet...

Come on, man. RR's teams would've won, but they would've given up a lot more points doing it and they might've been nailbiters.
