Because players play. You just don't choose your draft pick. I can't speak for anyone else but paying to see them play I'm rooting for them to win. It's more fun.

Of course, they?re professional athletes, they?d never purposely lose nor should they. As a owner/GM/coach though, I?ll be damned if I?m playing my best guys late in the year. Lots of healthy scratches and unproven rookies getting minutes.

That's what you do get some rookies some playing times. And they need to play with the vets or its just awful hockey. And do I have to bring up Buffalo again. They have many top picks they aren't any better than several years ago.

The guys during the Wings game believe there are 6-7 guys are worthy in the upcoming draft. Larkin was the 15th pick.. plus of course Zetterberg and Datsyuk who went much later. Not sure Holland can do that any more but lots of picks later down the board.
