as u know people are trying to get the Washington redskins to change their name. Why not go back to their original name the BRAVES. Since that was their name in Boston before they moved to DC. I don't see anybody going after the Atlanta Braves or their name

I never saw an issue with the name but apparently a lot of people do. Snyder is too much of a dick to do anything about it.

i dont either but like i said ppl are going after the Atlanta Braves.

Brave is not a term used in a negative light. Redskin is racist in literal meaning and usage. Redskin was/is the equivalent of the n word. Brave would be a general term for warrior.

So what do you tell that Navajo school in Arizona who's team name is the Redskins? This is all about distraction from the real issues, plain and simple.

"Warrior" is also not a term used in a negative light.

The crimson uniforms and helmets are fairly close to purple as they are; why not make the unis purple and call them "The Purple Helmeted Warriors?"

I don't understand the outrage for these things. Does anyone here actually think of a Native American/Indian when you hear someone say Washington Redskins? No, you think of the football team. Do you think of a bird when you hear Seattle Seahawks? No, you think of the football team...same with Lions, Bears, Braves, Pirates, Buccaneers, Gamecocks, Wolverines, Spartans, Chippewas and any other team from any sport.

Only someone who is actually not a sports fan would think of it in literal terms and associate something negative with it. This is a huge waste of time. The people who are mad are people who are not interested in any of these sports in the first place.

I understand the outrage. Even if you don't give two craps about football, the franchise is still broadcasting a questionable at best and racist at worst name out to a large audience for consumption. By allowing the name, the NFL is saying that it's an acceptable term to use, and I'm sure for many native americans that is simply not the case.

We've covered this: Monuments, Lobbyists or Insiders. Pick one.

Did nobody get my penis reference?
