Remembering Lion's Defensive Tackle Alex Karras.

Just that look on his face when he's on the horse..just cracks me up.

My dad went to the November 1st game in 1970 with a few friends. I was only 10 and had broken my leg in pee-wee football and was still in the hospital in traction because the break of my femur was really bad. they were at the hotel they were staying after the game in which the Lions lost to the Vikings ( I hated that team growing up and kinda still do) Alex and a few other Lions were at the bar drinking and My dad who was not a very big man decided to ask Alex for a autograph.. He was nervous because you never know what kind of mood a player is after a loss... He told Approached him then asked him and even told Alex I had broken my leg playing football and he was very nice to my father.. Like some kids do I freaking lost the napkin it was on but it said get well soon best wishes Alex Karras .. Lem Barney was always my favorite player but Alex was a close second from that period of Lions football... That loss was a start of a three game losing streak that put the lions at 5-4 after a 5-1 start... They then ripped off wins in a row to finish 10-4 and as most of you know were the old NFC's first wild card team and then lost 5-0 in the damn payoff game at Dallas.. I watched that game in a body cast lol...

That's nice. He seemed to be a very kind person. Unlike Reggie Jackson who told my Dad to fk off when he asked for an autograph at the airport.
