Report: Nick Bosa NOT returning to OSU.

I figured he wasn't going to come back. An earlier article said he wasn't even going to be re-evaluated until November.

Should we worry about Gary ?

Not unless Gary has something that needs surgery, I would think. Bosa ripped one of stomach muscles. You cannot play through that. Think hockey for this one. Those guys are out for months with these injuries. And if it doesnt heal adequately enough, it keeps nagging and will require further surgery.

I fear it will be another trend starting like not playing bowl game

There is an article over on MGoBlog that says yes. Here are some 'borrowed' screen shots......

Gary will play again. He hasnt done enough to solidify a draft position. Him coming back is the difference between top 5 and top 24.

Pretty shitty really, I understand McCaffrey and fournette since they sat out meaningless bowl games. OSU will likely be in the CFP and you'd think Bosa would be able to play by dec 31 or Jan 7. I dont know his timeline for being healthy but sitting out when you could win a NC is a whole new level

Plus Bosa is/was a team captain.

I don't blame any of them for sitting out. Or holding out in the pros like his brother did.

Anyone who ignores how incompetent, sleazy, and greedy NFL owners are, and blames the players for looking out for their own finances in a similar way is an idiot.

From a financial perspective it makes sense, you could argue that a top junior might as well not play at all in the season.

My point is this sucks for college football, a running back sitting out a meaningless bowl game is different. Running backs get hurt much more than d linemen.

I just think we could see almost all of the draft eligible players sit out the CFP using that logic.

then... pay them.

then... pay them.

And then the schools will have to pay all sports.

Then College Foitball will be down to just the Power 5 conferences. The other schools outside Power 5 wont be able to pay the other sports because of no tv contracts.

Why are you such a robot?

Who cares how they make it happen or who else they have to pay?

Football is not going to go away if they have to pay players... just less money will go to coaches, administrators, and the sleazy developers that build stadiums and practice facilities.

You'll still get to watch.

Even if you paid scholarship athletes, it still wouldn't stop guys like Bosa, Fournette or other top picks from making the decision to put their NFL future above the risk of finishing their college careers.

The #10 pick last year got $17M guaranteed. The #1 got $32M.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with you. the difference between the money a top pick can make and a small stipend for athletes is still tremendous, wouldn't be worth the risk of hurting yourself. If you're advocating paying college athletes their market value, there goes the NCAA model with revenue sports funding other sports. It would be pay to play for volleyball, track, etc.

I also agree with you.

but it will keep it from becoming a free-for-all with every potential first rounder and maybe more, sitting out multiple games, as some are concerned about.

I have no problem with players leaving early. I don't like the idea that a player might be in a situation where they'd take it easy on the field. I don't think it happens that often though.
