I am sorry but I am tried of seeing World series games in 30-40 degree weather... All new stadiums in cold weather climates need roofs.....

Plus we suck in cold weather...

Blame the extended playoff format, not the lack of overhead coverage.

I am all on board with a shorten season and have mentioned it many times B. They will never do it so you have to go another route... ROOFS!!!!! LOL

Eh, when I got to games I wanna feel the weather. A roof might tarnish the feel of the game

I like baseball outside. Though I don't like football outside because in December I freeze my ass and games suck when you're freezing your ass off.

That's why you have retractable roofs. When the weather is good, you open the roof. Bad? Close it

If they shortened the season, Detroit would've been sitting home this playoffs.

start the season 1 week early and have the northern teams start with teams in southern climates

Boston, NY, Det, CWS, Minn, Clev., KC probably have the worst weather...let them start against the other 7 teams and alternate for 2-3 series......then come north. Toronto has the dome

Well, it would have been an even swap with 2009...

Of course, Brandon Inge would have been robbed of a ground rule double down the right field line by horrible umpiring at Yankee Stadium...

i grew up a half hour south of milwaukee, miller park is the best park ive ever been to (even better than comerica). when the roof is closed, it still feels good and airy. with the huge windows and airflow through the place even with the roof closed is good, and when the roof is open its beautiful.

plus i love that they have dippin dots stands XD

Look so far we have lost the last two world series and I blame a small part on the cold weather.. I don't know what percent but it is there.. Detroit would have been a perfect place for a roof.. Baseball in 30 to 40 degree weather is just not a good product... Just an opinion... Miller Park does look very nice on TV... You don't hear ballplayers complaining ab out playing there.. MR I... Get it done.. Install a roof.

the trouble is that installing a roof in comerica is completely impossible because of the way its built, with virtually no upper deck and with how open it is. they'd have to build a brand new stadium.

honestly, i dont like going to games there that much. its way too hot if its sunny, way too cold if its not at some points of the year, and theres just about no protection from the elements. plus many of the seats just feel too far back from the action because of how big and open it is, especially in what little upper deck there is. it was designed to be open and airy and everything tiger stadium wasn't, with the result that for the most part its just not a comfortable or fun place to watch a baseball game. there are worse stadiums ive been to (comiskey, the old riverfront stadium in cinci) but im definitely not a fan of comerica.

I don't think you can retrofit a park like Comerica to be sealed and have a moving roof. You would basically be asking for a complete rebuild, in order to put in the load bearing structures to support a roof.

As far as weather goes, yeah it's crummy in April and October, but the Tigers offense was the same in August. It's been too long for me to say about 2006, but 2012 was not the fault of the weather.

What park I used to love was County Stadium. I went there once and IMO, truly awesome.

Game 1 of World Series

1968 = 2 October

1984 = 9 October

1997 = 18 October

2006 = 21 October

2012 = 24 October

Retractable roofs are not the answer in my opinion. Playoffs = money, extended playoffs = more money. 162-game season = money, 154-game season = less money.

6 of 30 MLB teams could be classified as cold weather citites, 4 in the AL central alone. As long as a team from the AL Central does not make the WS, the will not be as dramatic an issue.

WS with Cold weather teams

2012, 2006, 2005, 1997 and 1995. 5 times in 20 years.

And here comes Rebbiv again shrink-wrapping a discussion with indisputable facts. "Yeah but ... It could get cold in Phoenix in October--it was 56 degrees in 1959!" 56 degrees is like the ice age to Phoenicians.

This.

Shorten ST a little bit, start the season earlier and the playoffs will start earlier, then weather probably isn't an issue.

County Stadium was pretty awesome, I went there a lot too before they built miller park. i saw the tigers beat the crap out of the brewers there like 18-0 or something back in the late 90s. i still remember that game even though i was only about 10 or something.

The only real memory I have County Stadium was of Cecil Fielder making it his bitch.

Pretty much solves all the problems, that or even start ST a couple of days earlier.
