Rockies vs Tigers, Game thread June 17

This team...snatches a goose egg from the jaws of a big inning better than anybody.

first base open

2 outs

should walk the guy anyway

Yes, but he was going after him when he hit him.

I guess what you mean is it "would have been" smart to walk Fielder?

My question is...Leyland puts two speedsters at the top of the order...they both get on and he never sends them in motion...

um, as sad as I have to explain this but there are intentional walks in MLB these days.

my guess that they would have went after Jackson. Now you have possibly one out with only one on with one of the best hitters in baseball up.

Why risk running them if someone is already in scoring position with Miggy and Prince coming up? We'd be bitching if one of them got thrown out.

Jim should have sent the runners on the 3-1 count.. Miguel was going to put the ball in play... I agree use the speed...

Yes, I get that.

What was confusing was how your phrased the first post "smart to walk Fielder anyways", And my confusion was he was not walked, nor were they trying to walk him, so they really didn't do anything smart.

Card's might set a record for stolen bases that day.

Cards rank 20th in SB's with 41, and number 19 in SB percent with 72.

Funny the tigers have 28 sb's good for 28th place but are 2nd in the league with 85% success rate!!

I don't like using hit and run with your best hitter, you force him to swing at a pitch that might not be great.

One of the rarest plays in baseball.

If that was the case no-one would ever hit and run...

it'll be interesting to see a stat if you double steal with your slugger up to bat and no outs.

I mean, what is literally the point? A double scores both either way. A single isn't going score Berry so what literally is the point of double stealing with an all-star slugger?

If Cabby DOESN'T swing, you risk one getting out. If he hits the ball in the air, you risk a double or even triple play.

Maybe a straight steal then... You have the speed you need to use it to stay out of the DP...Tigers have hitting into DP problems..
