"It's still all my guys," Rodriguez said

Rodriguez isn't surprised to see the Wolverines 7-2 and nationally ranked. It's where he thought the team would be had he stayed in charge.

"I knew after my first spring there it was going to take us a while to get to where we wanted," Rodriguez said. "I felt, even with all the drama and the stuff that happened, we were getting there. Our best years were going to be Year 4 and Year 5. Most of the team was coming back. They were going to be a year older, a year stronger, another year in the system."

<blockquote>"It's still all my guys," Rodriguez said. "You're sitting there rooting for them. Also, when I watch them, there's a natural frustration because you're thinking, 'Geez, these are the guys that we recruited and wanted to <s>follow through their careers.'</s> continue to blame for our 2nd half collapses and sub 0.500 finishes in the Big Ten. Goddamn I was a bad coach and a bad person, and never should've been hired in Ann Arbor. Michigan is a great school and a great program, and I had no business being associated with it.'"</blockquote>

Fixed that for him.

I'm not ready to say Brady has had anymore success than RR did just yet. Brady has beaten Minn, Purdue and NW in the Big 10. If he loses to Iowa Illinois, Nebraska, OSU and the Bowl game then he's in the same shoes as RR imo after year 1. Yes the team is obviously playing better with the d much improved but all that matters is W's in college football. RR had a top 5 offense but it means nothing if you don't win. I'm rooting for Brady but I'm not crowning him yet no matter how much I like the direction it appears the team is moving in.

If Hoke somehow drops the next 4 games to finish 7-6, I'd still say it represents improvement over RR, since the defense hasn't been an embarrassment. Also, the coach hasn't been an embarrassment and team & program morale is better.

Ending the season on a 5 game skid would be pretty damn awful though...

That may be true but THE ONLY reason it would be acceptable is because of the coach before him. With next years tough schedule it will be hard to improve upon this years mark and he woulod take a hell of a lot of heat for dropping games after the 1st 4 or 5 of the year again. People just want wins...seeing improvement is great but in the end he will be crucified if he doesn't win. No one is giving him 4 years to get to 8 wins.

As I said, I like Hoke and I am a supporter for sure...just not ready to say he's had any real "success" just yet.

RR needs to shut up. Vince Lombardi took a 1-10-1 team in 1958 and made it 7-5 with the same players in his first year, 1959. 7 hall of famers were on that1-10-1 team. I doubt that Ray McLean ('58 coach) was saying "those were my guys." Not that I'm equating Hoke to Vince ...

MEMO to RR: It's the coaching, stupid.

As long as we stay in the top 40 or so in defense, Hoke's done what RR never would have been able to do here.

Understood, but if staying in the top 40 in defense doesn't equate to some quality wins and a good overall record it means nothing. Improving after Richrod is like taking a cactus out of a shoe and saying it's more comfortable to wear...pretty easy to improve quality.

If Michigan loses out from here, Hoke will have equalled his predecessor.

RR achieved a 6 game differential to the negative, versus his predecessor (5 games in the loss column; Rodriguez didn't qualify for a 13th game to lose).

well... at least it makes our games watchable. No more turning off the TV when we're down 24 points in the 3rd Q, and RR is screaming like a bitch on the sidelines as Greg Robinson runs around in circles pulling his hair out...

come on, pal. Anybody with half a brain knows that Carr left the cupboard bare, whereas RR left it completely stacked with 4 and 5 star recruits...

Hey Champ, one of these days I wish you would quit holding back and just let your true feelings for RichRod and his coaching ability come out.

The difference between this year and last is that I haven't turned the game off in the 2nd quarter of our losses. They've literally come down to the final drive in relatively low scoring games.

You guys aren't getting it. I realize they have improved but IF they drop 3 or 4 more games this year and then follow it up woith the same type of year next year then nothing is gained. It's kind of like gas prices.... They start of at $3.00 a gallon (Everyone is happy)...they shoot up to $4.00 a gallon (Everyone is pissed)...they settle at $3.40 and everyone is happy/content because well at least it's not $4.00.

Just because Rich Rod was $4.00 a gallon gas, doesn't mean that you should accept/be happy with Hoke for being $3.40 a gallon gas.

I believe Hoke will make this program a 10 win team again BUT until he does or even gets close, I'm not going to say he's had any success. Improving UM's defense and finishing sub .500 through the last 5 or 6 games of the season would not be a success in my mind no matter how much better they look losing.

Hoke is a MUCH better coach, but by year 3 he better have the results. He hasn't accomplished anything yet.

Rich Rod is like that ex-girlfriend who calls and hangs up after having a couple glasses of wine.

So ya see, the puppy ....."Rich Rod"....was lost and the only one who could find him was the little boy. (Billy Madison voice) lmao

Woah woah woah. Ms libby. The part that I don't understand is. He looked for an hour then sat around like a goon. He's gotta think, he's got a responsability. You don't look for an hour and quit. You get your ass out there and you find that fuckin dog!

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
