Scheffler retires

The Lions cut Tony Scheffler last year after he missed some time with concussions.

And now he?s calling it a career because of them.

Scheffler told the Associated Press he was retiring from the NFL after suffering three concussions in the last four years.

He worked out for the Chiefs and Bears last year after his release, and said there was ?moderate? interest in him in free agency. He played eight years in the NFL with the Broncos and Lions, catching 258 passes for 3,207 yards and 22 touchdowns.

It would have been interesting to see if Scheffler had been more interested in continuing if the interest from other teams was more than ?moderate.?

But after his career effectively ended when he suffered his last concussion last year, you don?t have to wonder why so many players are willing to conceal their symptoms.

I still don't think Detroit used him effectively like they should have when we got him. He could have been a bigger help.

There is another injury that goes unnoticed for Detroit last year. Out by October.

Does Scheffler get better separation than Fauria on that pick 6.

Better separation? Guy was open, just another poor throw.

He was not open. There was a LB on the inside so Stafford had to throw it outside. Went too far and lucky for the Giants, they had a safety in no mans land for an easy pick.

This proves you know nothing. Fauria comes out of his break, LBer is behind him and to the left (behind band right from Faurias prospective) clear pocket easy 9 yard throw, even a throw directly into the numbers is competition, that is open. Stafford throws high and outside, fauria makes great effort to get hands on the ball, easy tip interception, Stafford let's up at the end to avoid contact and allows him to walk into endzone.

Watch it again. If you don't think he is open it further invalidates all your post.

LB is on the inside of him (towards the middle of the field) Schwartz said he threw it away to the outside from him on purpose. And that the play was designed to go someone else anyway but the Giants took that option away. I am validated by a NFL head coach. You need to get your eyes checked. Fauria was not open enough to justify a throw right at him. He had to throw slightly to the outside but went a bit too far. The presser after the Giants game will agree with me.

"The one to (Joseph) Fauria, that pass is actually designed to go somewhere else, but they took that guy away, so the read... and Matt stayed with his progression. He went there, that was taken, and he went to the tight end matchup vs. a linebacker and threw the ball sort of high and outside, away from the defender."

Gym Shorts is not an NFL head coach!

You're "validated" by a former head coach that would never hold his QB accountable and insisted he had no bad habits.
Schwartz has been proven wrong many of times. It was a poor throw, it was one of the easier throws a QB will have. A 9 yard out route is a staple that every QB can execute.

Find me one publication, one analyst, hell one person that does not have motive to deflect that agrees it was a good throw against great coverage. I bet not a single poster on here agrees with you.

I never said it was a good throw. Just that it had to be outside due to the defender. Smidge too far. Fauria ran more of a curl. If it's an out route, it's even more Fauria's fault.
