Should Bell see larger role/more snaps vs Chicago?

My opinion is forget it all and let the Lions do what they do best, throw the ball.

I agree, but if the Lions decide to abandon the "balance" on offense, whos the best option coming out of the backfield?

LeShoure. At least he should get every chance since you drafted him high, might as well see what he can do.

What exactly has the "balance" created? Moose kept talking about it the entire game....how our run game was going to open it up for our recievers.....ya that didnt happen. It creates no big plays...a bunch of 3 and outs....and doesnt relax coverage at all. Teams have no problem watching you run for 3 yards a pop the entire first half (the philly game we averaged alot better....i think it was over 5 the first half) if it means calvin is covered like a blanket. Open it up....throw it. The oline is why we cant run....has been for the last 10 years.

Exactly why I think Bells playing time should increase. Pretty sure he was leading all RBs in receiving yards going into the Philly game.
Any stats gurus on this board that can show what the offensive production has looked like with Bell on the field compared to what it is when hes not on the field?

Won't matter, Chi doesn't give up a lot of yards rushing and almost a 3rd of bells receiving yards happened on 1 play (50). I'd put him at 2 on the depth chart but I wouldn't take snaps away from Leshoure.

Yeah I like the role he is in right now giving Leshoure a breather every now and then. I'll admit he has surprised me but Leshoure is still the number 1.

What the fuck do you think is going to happen to coverages if we abandon the run game entirely?? The reason we don't have any big plays isn't because we have a so-so offensive line....it's because we don't have any playmakers outside of 81!!

Titus has been non-existant. Burelson, about the same. Pettigrew can't catch herpes from a 3rd world prostitute, and Broyles can't get in the game. Losing Jahvid is a bigger blow to this offense than anyone gives credit to. Our record since he has been out.....7-13. This offense is designed to have a Jahvid Best type RB. To be honest, I am SHOCKED this hasn't been addressed by Mayhew. Bell, LeShore, Williams, Logan, Smith.......not one of those guys is going to draw a S in the box....or single coverage on CJ.

I would invest a high pick in trading for a guy that could come in and fill that role. Jones from Oakland.....James from SF.....Chris Johnson (his contract probably takes him out of consideration)....or someone of that nature that could draw attention from our WR. No matter where he was drafted....NO D COORDINATORS are afraid of Mickeal LeShore!!

Just "opening it up" and forgetting about running the ball is STUPID and shows your complete lack of actual football knowledge.

So you agree with me....mayhew blows and has wasted a ton of high round picks on no talent people that dont produce.

You invest high round picks on stafford, calvin, titus, broyles and "opening it up" is stupid? I dont need football knowledge to know our oline cant run block....theres statistics that prove it for me. And as i previously stated....and you actually hinted at....no team in their right mind is changing their defensive schemes cause they fear a bunch of 3 yard runs from leshoure and our shitty run game.

not saying he's a better option for the role over Bell by any stretch but I am a little surprised Smith hasn't played more after doing a good job last year and in the first two games this year. I don't see what he's done to lose a limited role and get a few touches ever week at least..

Smith is all right when he's fresh but all he gives you is 2-3 games then he has nothing left. Let him sit while Leshoure and Bell are healthy, when one of those two gets banged up Smith can come in and play the hero.

Smith isn't playing because the grass/turf gets the best of him EVERY GAME. I agree about him being good for a few games; just enough to have us think that he can consistently be productive, then most times he ends up injuring himself.
