Should Urban Meyer be FIRED?

Should Urban Meyer be Fired?

  • YES, fire that lying, wifebeating-enabling dirtbag. How is this even a question?

  • No. As a violent wifebeater, I condone the behavior here.

Yup.

He's enabled a domestic abuser for a decade. He could have fired Smith at any point. Between 2012 and last week, police had to get involved 9 times with Zach Smith. If you think Urban didn't know about that, I have an ocean front house in North Dakota I'd like to sell you.

It's not that hard to do the right thing. Instead, he enabled Smith and had people convince his wife to drop charges. He can eat dicks.

Yes, but driving onto the driveway after the ex-wife and boyfriend got a PPO was the final straw!!! Wtf??!? Why fire him now after he has done all the other shit?

Now OSU fan is saying Gene Smith should be fired, not Urban Meyer. Anything to save the program.

I accused him of being a wifebeater after he repeatedly blamed the victim and that didn't go over very well...

Probably the conversation "Resign or you'll get fired."

Yeah, I don't think it was a voluntary resignation.

In Bo's book he said he disagreed with them forcing Moeller out, and if he had been in the office when the news broke, he would've fought to keep Moeller.

So sounds like Moeller leaving was the current AD's decision.

I remember reading that the cops recorded audio of the incident with a drunk Moeller cursing everyone out, and threatened to release it, so to appease them and avoid a week or so of bad press, they fired him. Dick move by the cops. And cowardly move by the administration.

It almost seems unbelievable now... after years of reading about child sexual abuse scandals, cash, drugs, & tattoos for memorabilia and autographs, wifebeaters on staffs, team physicians molesting athletes, and the SEC's bagmen being an "open secret" we'd fire a successful coach for one (1) drunk night, completely out of character for him. And he didn't even get a DUI or cause any harm to anyone.

Why would the cops want him gone?

Why would the cops want him gone?

I don't know, but I remember hearing that.

I looked it up: apparently they DID release the tapes, because the LA Times reporter (link) heard him pleading with them to let him go.

The cops also wanted him charged with assault and battery of a police officer (link)

After reading the latter one, sounds like a sloppy incident. But still, out of character and despite his belligerence, doesn't sound like he hurt anyone or anything other than his own reputation. doesn't sound like the cop he punched in the chest was actually hurt... and if you even look at a cop funny, they can charge you with assault... they can and do say anything they want.

In light of the fact that this truly was an isolated incident, Roberson probably should've kept him on board, and stood up for him. but I can also see why they felt it was too damaging to keep him at the time.

if something is recorded so that the public can listen to it or watch it, it's much more damaging than in text form only.

Thinking back on it now I thought he resigned out of embarrassment and not wanting to bring shame on the program and university. But you guys are probably right, he was probably told "resign or you will be fired". I didn't know he hit a police officer. Not good.
