SI ranks all 32 starting QB's. Stafford ranked.......

I'll even help ya, here's a link: Sort through stats, any year, all you want.

Ummmm, thanks?? He's put up some great numbers in years past. Some stinkers too. That's why I have never called him elite. He's never had an OLIne to help him but one year, the running game has been laughable here except maybe one year, he's had ONE weapon his whole fkn career except last year and he's had a defense that's been a laughing stock for his whole career except last year. And I have already admitted he had a down year category/stat wise last year. Nevermind the growing up part and those handful of comebacks last year. They mean nothing, right? lol.

Good enough for ya, Slim? Of course not ;)

These are all excuses though. FACTS are excuses....I get it.

I'm actually a little surprised this whole Stafford debate has carried the board through the entire offseason.

So your answer is he's above average because he has sub par talent around him? Gotcha.

Well hopefully it doesn't have to anymore and he can actually lead this team somewhere meaningful. I would argue that it's LKP's antics that have carried this board through the off-season. Too bad he's not over at the Pistons/Red Wings, cause those need life.

He wasn't as reckless with the football last year, which is something I would value in a QB.

Year 1 in a new system (and a rookie OC), interested to see how he does in year 2 with new pieces.

The fact is Stafford isn't going anywhere and the past is pretty irrelevant to this upcoming season. Stuck with him whether we like it or not.

The Stafford topic has become too polarizing here, I think it's time for the board to move on, the new season is quickly approaching.

Sure you stick with him, no one is saying otherwise. He does some things fine, some things okay and somethings awful. But I suspect the conversation will continue unless he puts up much better numbers. Not so sure he does..

He does put up above average stats though. He was in a new offense with a shit OLine and no running game, new OC as well. He improved in some areas and showed maturity as a QB. So what if he's a late bloomer? The whole offense was a mess last year and YES, the QB gets part of the blame. A better running attack, reloaded OLine should make this team skyrocket.

No he doesn't He puts up a lot of yards cause he throws a lot. He is one of the least efficient QBs in the league.

Over the past 3 years that have been 22 QBs that have thrown at least 1,000 passes. Here is Staffords efficiency rank:

Completion %: 20 out of 22
YPA: 18 out of 22
TD %: 22 out of 22
Int %: 13 out of 22
QB Rating: 22 out of 22

Composite rank: 22 out of 22. Which means he has been the least efficient out of all the QBs in the past 3 years that have thrown at least 1,000 passes. That is horrible.

EDIT: Before people complain, he has been sacked the 3rd least as far as sacks per attempt goes. Only Brees, Brady and Manning have ben sacked at a lower rate

He's attempted the 2nd most passes in the past 3 years, but only thrown the 13th most TDs and the 3rd most INTs. He does nothing well except throw the ball a bunch and rank up yards to impress the simpletons and fantasy fans.

If someone has some good stuff to say about Matt I'm all ears. But why does it always come with bad play by the rest of the team or injuries..The one's saying he's good or above average never seem to look at stats..

Oh btw, 12 in yards is awful when you're 5th in attempts.

In before someone demands you include 2011, the year Stafford was seen drinking unicorn blood out of a leprechaun's skull.

Stafford is efficient. He gets first down after first down. His completion % is affected by thingsl like pressure, drops and bad down and distances in the past.

3rd in 2011, 1st in 2012 and 6th in 2013 in first downs thrown. He is our offense. Finally he can rely on 3 guys in Calvin, Tate and Ebron this year. One and 3/4 (Calvin) was enough for 11 wins in 2014. Healthy weapons was enough in 2011 for 10 wins and 41 TDs. 2012 and 2013 we had major weapon injuries (and no weapon depth in 2013).

That's great, of course don't average it with all the other stats. First downs are ostly based on the fact we either led or close in YAC mostly because of Tate. I guess that means nothing..

Stafford put Tate in position to get YAC. Leading the receiver. And it wasn't all YAC from Tate either or Calvin. Stafford is a first down machine. It's proven. And he does it without protection and much run support. 2012 and 2013 he did it without many weapons either.

2012 and 2013 we fumbled 16 and 15 times (many not Stafford or his fault with the Oline missing a block). Killed drives.

Stafford is a first down machine. This leads to more attempts. This leads to many scoring opportunities despite no run support, good hands by some weapons and poor protection in 2014.

Yeah he did, lol. "You got out a foot and I'll throw it to you." :lmao:

The best thing I heard that describes Matt Stafford: He could fatten up on soft opponents. Truer words have never been spoken. Of course not all the time but he needs to play soft defenses..
