Sick of all of this - A Rant

the only hope is for a GOP split I think. take the values voters and gun rights types and then the country club types and create separate parties. of course you'd lose a bunch of elections before you gain momentum.

There needs to be a major polarizing issue for a party to split. It's only happened one in the country's history (1860). None of the issues mentioned here are that issue.

(Bull Moose Party and the DEM-REP of 1824 were not splits, IMO)

George Wallace's party in the 60's was a big deal. Also the last time a third party won an electoral vote.

the South needs their racism, and if they could no longer get it from the Democrats because of JFK & LBJ, they'd get it from somebody else... and that was Wallace.

now it's the GOP. see e.g. Reagan's States' Rights speech, where he welcomed them into his party.

Are we talking about a GOP split or are talking about a 2nd party (referred to by the masses and useful idiot media as a 3rd party)?

The thing is...who is going to make up that party, and what is it going to stand for?

The most critical posters to this board of the one party Republicrat system I would say are MichChamp and byco - and disliking the Republicrat system one of the few things those two see eye to eye on.

So how are libertarians and 70's style big government liberals that percieve the vagaries oof the current system going to get together to go up against the Republicrats?

Racism like that is not limited to the states who seceded in 1860. Michigan went 10% Wallace. Ohio 11%, same with Indiana. Illinois 6%, Mass, 8%.

That's true, but desegregation was resisted most heavily in the deep south.

Wallace used it as a campaign platform, without which he would have gone nowhere.
