Better DBs...hopefully.

Better #2 WR...hopefully

A QB coach who actually gets Stafford to earn his paycheck...hopefully

A better #3 RB...hopefully

...............

A wide receivers coach that can help these clowns catch the damn ball better after getting a better ball thrown to them because of the better qb coach we acquire

I thought that the Lions were finally gonna turn it around b/c Schwartz was the first non-M HC surname since Moeller was briefly HC after replacing Booby Loss...err...I mean Ross.

Shoulda remembered that the main problem truly lies with the ownership of this futility-fated Ford football franchise.

I'm looking at this postgame presser. Why would anyone care what the players think about Schwartz? They obviously don't play their best under him so it doesn't matter, and if they listen to that "we want him back" bull then that's amazing. SURELY they are just saying the right things again. It's hilarious at this point.

If Coughlin were released by Giants, I would be okay with him coaching Lions.

I'm wishing someone great would come forward and say they can win with this talent plus what they can get in draft and FA. Like Jimmy Johnson or Cower, someone who can maximize them and win it all next year because the talent next year will make that an actual possibility with the right coaches.

Cowher would be ideal

Jimmy Johnson is done coaching. Cowher probably is too. They like the easy TV money. Plus, Jimmy likes his fishing boat way too much.

Coughlin is intriguing, but he may retire if he's fired. His legacy is safe.

Used to hate Gruden, but if there's a coach that would straighten out #9...he'd do it.

I really think the new HC needs to be a QB guru. Too much invested in #9 and the hire needs to fix him.

Count Dungy out as well, he's stated publicly he has no interest in the Lions (or coaching for that matter).

Mack Brown??? or another college guy?

Hell, I would take Phil Jackson right now even though he is a basketball guy.

Any way Mayhew gets fired..? I know some don't mind him but I think he's terrible.

Last year's draft combined with improved OL mean Mayhew stays one more year, with understanding whatever coach he brings in must make playoffs or he is out.

I worry about that because the Ford's kept Millen 8 years.

And personally I think a new coach works better with a new GM. If we get a new GM in '15 be might not like the coach that gets hired in '14.

Agreed, but this is the Lions so things proven to work best by winning organizations do not apply. ;P

A coaching staff at these times can make the world of differences in the NFL. Look at some of the differences a coach has made with some of the playoff teams this season.

Jim Harbaugh in SF
Andy Reid in KC
Pete Carroll in Seattle
Chip Kelly in Philly
Sean Payton in NO

I mean seriously having the right coaching staff can mean the world of difference in a teams performance. The Lions need to make sure to do their due diligence this offseason to get the person/staff they feel will be the best fit for the personnel we have on the team. Gruden or Cowher would probably be ideal but the likelihood of either is probably slim to none.

I think mayhew is safe for at least a couple years. He wanted to bring in a new coach this year based on the stories, but the Ford family stopped it.

Silver Lining? What is this a thread comparing our team to that awful movie I never watched?

He's the one who brought in Gym Shorts. Granted I'm not sure there were many options that year, hell I even wanted him. But he clearly made the wrong choice.

Listen, I hate Schwartz too, but he inherited a ball of flaming Shit. He put the fire out but we're still shit. Hell, he looked like a great coach when we got to the playoffs.

Anyway, in a dream world we go for O'Brian for HC, Rex for D coord (I know he wouldn't take less than HC) and anyone but Linehan for OC.

The problem I have with our HC is that regardless how the players screw up, he doesn't seem to make a point to teach them "you can't be hitting guys late, or have encroachment that often or get an unsportsmanlike by yelling at a guys face when you stop them on 3rd down."

Blame it on the refs etcetera but too much bone head plays. That falls on him. As far as the OC and DC go, adjust. Fk.
