SoCal Cop hunting other cops

i can understand the media turning off the feeds of the actions of the cops at the scene out of concern that somehow Dorner was watching on TV and could use live video to his advantage.

can't understand why they'd stay silent about anything they saw after the fact though, except to protect the cops who were basically on orders to kill him, not arrest him.

They didn't need orders, they know what to do to cop killers.

well, from the audio of the police band uploaded to youtube, sounds like the plan was to burn him to death as soon as they had him cornered. no chance to surrender, no attempt to take him alive.

Smokey, this is not 'Nam, there are rules.

Not saying if its right or wrong but cop killers get the "I thought he had a gun" treatment.

Exactly.

The police don't realize that when they circumvent the law to "avenge" a fallen cop, by making sure a 'cop killer' never reaches trial, they spit in the face of all that officer died for, which was to uphold the law.

Or maybe they do realize, and just don't give a fuck.

Not that it explains away everything regarding that audio, but it was from an hour or 2 before the fire started.

are you guys serious.....they didn't have to THINK he had a gun....he was shooting at them, sent 1 to the hospital and killed another. These are the guys that beat the shit out of Rodney king for nothing....ofcourse they were going to fuck this guy up lol. Dude deserved the barbecue he got. Why the fuck should the citizens have to pay for a trial for that POS?

No wonder you don't follow arguments about drones. You just flat-out don't see the significance in the rule of law, do you?

from the looks of it... Dorner was guilty of multiple murders, burglary, kidnapping (i.e. detaining one against their will), grand theft auto, assault with a deadly weapon, and on and on.

...but everyone still deserves a trial. it's what separates us from the savages.

you want to talk about saving money? they could've done that years ago by simply giving a wrist slap to the cop who kicked the insane guy Dorner was arresting, instead of firing Dorner and ending his career.

people who endorse vigilante killings, extra-judicial killings, assassinations, etc. really need a history lesson before they dismiss the laws and procedures we have in place.

Kind of insults everything Matlock fought for too. Bet he could've got Dorner out of this mess. Yeah I know ol' Ben's no longer with, but I'm certain dude would've walked if Matlock was his lawyer.

Maybe this can be your next movie Tinsel. But instead of Matlock it's the Son of Matlock. A slick, quick witted vegan from Atlanta. He gets Dorner off, except in the movie Dorner's actually innocent, and then at the end of the movie to honor his father he denounces veganism and out eats Joey Chestnut in a hot dog eating contest.

Fin.

If Dorner is in any way made to appear sympathetic, Hollywood won't touch it. He would have to be portrayed as a completely unhinged, selfish, incompetent ego-maniac, making false accusations against the hard-working boys in blue, who gets his in the end.

else, you'd have to do a mighty extensive re-write, and character exhibition showing that the cops who he kills are BAD BAD dudes, and also exceptions to the rule.

...and the issue of systematic corruption, racism, and abuse of the public by the police going unpunished and indeed protected, and encouraged by top brass and elected officials, (AKA what happens in real life) could not be touched with a 10 foot pole, unless the filmmakers are content with this being an extremely limited release, showing in a handful of "art house" theaters in big cities, far away from the masses.

better just to write it as a Die-Hard remake... terrorists infiltrate the LAPD and try to blow up the Oscar's, and the Dorner-character has to stop them in an explosive-filled race across LA... after which he gets congratulated by the Chief of police (who may have had his doubts early on, but is deep down inside a good guy) and the mayor.

Everybody WINS!!!

you (the studio/producer/writer/director)
make money... the unwashed masses in the audience get 90 minutes of mindless entertainment to distract them from the drudgery of their lives... snarky critics and intellectual-types in big cities get to mock it and feel better about themselves... and most importantly, it doesn't threaten to inspire any real thought or criticism of the status quo, allowing things to continue as they are. Hooray for Hollywood

I actually have this script concept...former Philly or NYC cop is framed....escapes prosecution; but loses his job...heads west to Hollywood and becomes one of those free TV show taping ticket guys out in front of the Chinese Theatre...

So one day; actually it's Oscar day...he shows up to give away TV show tickets, and all the regular character freaks-Batman, Superman, Catwoman, all them-well, different people are there, in those costumes-and yeah, they're Euro-terrorists, and they take over and hold the Oscars hostage...

...and he's the only one can save the day...

Major cool action scenes in the Dolby (used to be Kodak) Theater....

You were at the Chinese Theater once, I think, right, MichChamp?

I was indeed. I felt one with the military-entertainment-industrial-complex while I was there.

Well, you should have.

You had a beautiful, charming woman accompanying you, just like any self-respecting military-entertainment-industrial-complex super hero would have.

You probably felt a little like Bond.

James Bond.

I hear you champ, but where does Matlock and Joey Chestnut come in?

He just shot a cop and killed him. He was either going to die by a cop shooting him or by him deciding to run back into a burning house. Why do i care which one he chose? Its not like he came out willingly with his hands in the air.....he was firing at them lol. Then he chose to run into a burning building instead of being shot by a bunch of cops. He was never going to give the police a chance to put him through the "proper laws and prcedures.".....ever.
