He just shot a cop and killed him. He was either going to die by a cop shooting him or by him deciding to run back into a burning house. Why do i care which one he chose? Its not like he came out willingly with his hands in the air.....he was firing at them lol. Then he chose to run into a burning building instead of being shot by a bunch of cops. He was never going to give the police a chance to put him through the "proper laws and prcedures.".....ever.
from the reports I've read to the contrary, they never called on him to surrender or encouraged him to, and there was no return gunfire from the house. there was apparently no gunfire on the scene, the deputies cordoned off the house, and tossed military grade incendiary grenades into it to burn him to death.
not naive; I know in situations like this, cops go for blood. revenge is a very primal thing. but they are SUPPOSED TO follow procedure and represent law and order. as a society governed by law and order (at least in name...) we should not accept revenge as an explanation.
maybe the rank-and-file guys who carried it out were just following orders, but whoever gave the orders here should be held accountable for it. this sort of thing requires leadership, and in acquiescing to the mob rule of revenge, we're not seeing any.
