Brian Hoyer was named the starter of the Texans beating out Uncle Rico Mallett(I bet I can throw a football over that mountain).

Marcus Rush is having a great pre season and has a good chance to make the 49ers after being an undrafted FA.

Mylan Hicks also should make the 49ers as a corner back. Ran a 4.41 electronically times, guess he had some speed.

Max Bullough will not only make the Texans roster, he might start.

Cousins is the clear #2 Qb in DC, but with China Doll Griffin in front of him, he'll be the starter at some point this season.

Jeremy Langford had a big game for the Bears with a TD and another 47 yard run.

Will Gholston is playing some tackle now for Tampa

Darqueze Denard has really progressed and should start this season.

Bennie Fowler has had a great preseason and should make the Broncos this year.

Tony Lippett is looking to be the nickle back this season with Miami.

We have 33 players currently on NFL rosters, after final cuts, that numbers should still be between 25-28.

Spartans in the CFL...

Johnny Adams so far has 25 tackles, 4 INTs (took 1 to the house) for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

it will be interesting to see what happens with mumphrey in Houston, if he makes the team there's a good chance he takes Keyshawn Martin's roster spot

Might happen, plus Mumphrey has been returning punts too. You have to think Martin will make some other team though, too talented.

Lions could use a return guy. Ross is useless and Abdullah might be too valuable to use as a returner.

Dan France is the backup LT in Cincinatti and his versatility might earn him a spot on the final roster.

Leveon Bell is out for the season with a grade 3 tear of his MCL, the good news is the ACL appears to be fine.

Max Bullough had 8 tackles for the Texans yesterday as Brian Hoyer led them to a win.

Bennie Fowler is a solid WR for Denver.

Keith Mumphrey is returning punts and kicks and playing 4th WR for the Texans.

Will Gholston is playing inside more for the Bucs and has 22 tackles on the season.

Jeremy Langofrd had 46 yards on 12 carries yesterday and could be the feature back for the Bears if Forte is out for a while.

Dennard and Waynes are both the #3 corners on their teams and playing more each week.

Kirk Cousins is on his way to cult hero status in DC.

Tony Lippett is also seeing some playing time for Miami now. And Sims is back at TE and caught a TD the other week.

The 2012 team that went 7-6 had Bell, Fowler, Sims, and Lippett on it, not sure how we didn't score more points.

Andrew Maxwell

That guy wasn't even good enough to be a MAC QB

The thing about Maxwell is that he had a great arm and could make all the reads, so he probably looked great in drills in practice, but in games he was awful. He had no touch on his ball, it was not catchable. And he panicked under the first sign of pressure so he rarely threw the ball on time. 90% of the drops you saw were the ball getting their an instant too fast before the WR had come out of his break. Timing and throwing a catchable ball are everything for a QB. Cook should have started, but I doubt he practiced as well as Maxwell did.

We lost 5 games by 13 combined points, it was a tough season, if Maxwell had been even average we go 10-2 that year.

Maxwell sucked and deserved to be replaced in 2013 but I'm not so sure it's all or even mostly his fault. The guy had tons of raw talent and a cannon of an arm but he took such a beating in 2012 - had to be one of the most sacked or hit QBs in college football that year. I think the poor kid was shell shocked and got to the point where he was just looking to get rid of the ball as fast as he could. Maybe it was a case of him not developing but I don't know how many if any kids would have come out of that 2012 season without a severely damaged psyche.

We allowed 22 sacks in 2012, 49th least in the country. Not terrible considering the injuries we had to the O line that year (worse than this year). Maxwell just didn't have "it", he panicked and had no touch. He was also not as mobile as Cook. Cook has enough athleticism to buy himself an extra second or two when he needs time for the receivers to get open.

Langford with an 83 yard screen pass for a TD, incredible speed!
