How much time does he have to decide something like this?
I know as a grad transfer he has fewer NCAA restrictions.
there are deadlines to enroll in graduate (and undergraduate) programs... presumably he has to at least meet those and have classes lined up before he steps on to the field. I'm not sure how restrictive those are.

He probably should not come back, but I won't be upset if he does, and don't blame him for leaving.
If his reason for leaving was related to the awful offensive coaching staff, he would've been better off sticking it out to see if they got fired, before leaving. Of course he would run the risk that their replacements would be bad also, but I don't think he would've lost anything by waiting; it's not like he's already going elsewhere.
