Game 1 and the young hitters came to play. Green, Clemons, and Badoo with HRs and Tork 1-2 with a 2B. Up 6-4 after 6 innings

I would love to see this as the opening day lineup

1 Badoo
2 Candy
3 Grossman
4 Baez
5 Tork
6 Schoop
7 Green
8 Cabrera
9 Barnhart

They won't bat Miggy and his HOF career 8th. Plus I heard they like Green at 2.

well, it will be a good test for AJ. Do you put your team in the best position to win or do you massage the ego of a has been HOF player?

I think his lineup position will depend on how others hit. After the first 6 weeks or so last year Miggy wasn't awful and there weren't really guys he was holding back from at bats. Perfect world I'd bet that after he gets 3000 he might start sliding down to 6-7

I just hope he hits where he deserves to be, not because of his name.

I'm not too worried about this year, but next year if he's not an above average hitter at DH I'm hoping they just buy out his last year if they can. Hopefully this youth infusion sparks him. It couldn't have been easy showing up the last 3-4 years knowing you're playing for a AAAA team.

Anyone see this?

Free agent shortstop Carlos Correa has reached an agreement with the Minnesota Twins on a three-year deal worth $105.3 million with opt outs after the first two years. Highest average annual value for an MLB infielder.

This morning the Tigers reassigned RHPs Beau Brieske, Garrett Hill and Logan Shore to Minor League camp.
The Tigers have 57 players remaining in Major League camp.

Beau Brieske?s fastball averaged 96.3 mph and hit 97 today. With a lotta spin, too.
He averaged 93.7 last year.

Very impressive two innings from Beau Brieske there. 4 K's. Pretty good command with the heater at a lively 95-96. Changeup is a real weapon with huge velo separation and good armspeed. Expect to see him in Detroit this summer.

If Brieske can hold the velocity we saw on Saturday and tune his slider a bit, you're going to see him way up on some prospect lists this summer.

Looks like Tarik Skubal has tweaked his curveball. Baseball Savant is classifying it as a knuckle-curve now, and it?s 3.5MPH faster than his curve from last year. Was his least used secondary offering last year.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said MLB is surveying managers to get their opinions on adding a 27th or possibly 28th man to the roster for the first month of the season.
He said he expects most managers would vote for at least one extra pitcher given the shortened spring.

Second year out from TJ and Joey Wentz is suddenly 95-96 mph. That's a heck of a nice development. Typically been 92-93 since coming over in the Shane Greene trade a few years back.

A.J. Hinch on the idea of Riley Greene playing CF in Comerica:

"I think he?s got the range to do it. I know he does it a little bit differently. But I?ll believe before I?ll criticize. If he ends up on our team he's gonna get every opportunity to find out one way or another."
