SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers still have a few decisions to make on the Opening Day roster. One of those areas is the outfield.

Robbie Grossman is assured of a spot. Akil Baddoo is also likely to return. And it is appearing more and more certain that Riley Greene will make the roster.

That leaves 1 open spot as A. J. Hinch prefers to carry 4 outfielders.

The three most likely candidates are Daz Cameron, Derek Hill and Victor Reyes.

You may find their stats here:
https://www.mlb.com/tigers/stats/

Which one of these players is most deserving of making the roster?

1. Daz Cameron

2. Derek Hill

3. Victor Reyes

I checked out the game yesterday in dunedin. Badoo got horrible jumps on every fly ball hit his way. Had an absolute bomb off a lefty to lead off the game tho. Spring training games are much more enjoyable. I'll have to try harder to get to more when I'm down here next spring.

Prior to today?s game, the Tigers optioned LHP Miguel Del Pozo and INF?s Kody Clemens and Zack Short to AAA Toledo. Additionally, RHP Drew Carlton, INF Josh Lester & OF Jacob Robson have been reassigned to MiLB camp.
The Tigers have 46 players remaining in Major League camp.

Will Vest vs MLB hitters..not very good..Vest vs MILB hitters good..or the RH equivilant of del Pozo..I have zero use for either..typical Avila/Chadd/Littlefield talent..it takes them 4 years to figure out they're not useable..takes others 10 maybe 12 minutes.

They are gonna bust Torkelson hard in till he hits it or lays off it..so far..they are knocking the bat out of his hands FB hard in.

Riley Greene using the whole fields smokes a shot to left center..turns it into a RBI 2B.

Riley Greene is seeing 4.75 pitches per plate appearance this spring. Robbie Grossman led the Tigers last year with 4.21 P/PA.

Soto just filthy..power slider..to lefties..unhittable.

Manning was
bottom 1% in whiff%
bottom 4% K%
EV bottom 4%
slider BAA .371

just cannot sustain this in the MLB if you want to win..its not a training program in 2022 its about winning.

Today's outing was too much 2021
Hinch will say the same thing.

It's spring training..so what am I looking for from Manning.
1. Repetitive consistency-I don't get excited about 2 good breaking balls if you throw 3 poor ones to the next two hitters.
2. Attack-don't throw 92-93 then 95-96 after you get smoked for two bombs
3. more swings and miss.

The Tigers are crushing the Phillies in the seventh inning. Six runs so far, including a three-run home run from Eric Haase. 416 feet. 105.1 mph exit velocity.
12-6 Tigers.

Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson combined to work 18 pitches out of PHI reliever Connor Brogdon, drawing back-to-back walks to lead off bottom 3rd. They're not acting like overanxious prospects.
