39-42, that's what we are, and that's what we should be. Average team. Our roster is not all that good, we have 1 great hitter(Cabby), and 2 very good ones (Jackson and Fielder). No one else on this roster is all that good, sure a few have had career seasons or hot stretches in the recent past, but none of them has proven to be much more than they are over their careers. We have a #1 pitcher and 3 number 3 or 4 pitchers. The Bullpen is decent now.
The worst part is this, I look at the White Sox roster right now, and it's top to bottom as good or better than us right now. They have more proven players on their team than we do IMO. They could run away with the Central if we don't get it in gear soon. The lineups we march out every game just aren't that good of major league lineups, period. I mean, they've all had their moments, but Berry, Boesch, Perralta, Santiago, Raburn, and even Avila and Dirks aren't the core of a championship team IMO. Neither are Fister, Porcello, and Scherzer. Jackson, Cabrera, Fielder, and Verlander, those are the good players we have, outside of the BP, the rest of the team is average to below average.
Leyland has been bad for sure, but for the 1st time I am looking directly at Dave Dombrowski for assembling a team of overpaid mid level Major league players. It's no longer the most talented team in its own division much less top 5 in baseball IMO. On top of that, it's now more clear than ever that our farm system is decimated.
