Stafford knows people are talking about him being benched

I should have clarified a bit more. You cant deny he's produced numbers but im basically going off talent. There are 5-7 QBs i would probably take over Stafford. That doesnt mean i hate Staff, im just being a realist

The way Stafford has struggled lately, his numbers are similar to the bottom half of that list of QBs

His play the last 6 games has put his season stats in line with the likes of Palmer, Glennon, Tannenhill, Cassel and Fitzpatrick

Looking at only his last 6 games, that puts him in the Geno Smith/Weeden crowd.
120/228, 1597 yards, 52.6% completion, 9 TD 12 INT, 66.4 rating.

A guy with Stafford's talent should never have numbers like that over a 6 game stretch. He needs to figure out why he is so bad.

Yes, he has had drops. But what counts as a drop? Does that interception to Fauria count as a drop? Since it hit his hands? However that one is on Stafford, it was a good effort to simply get his hands on the ball. An average throw there and the "drop" and int does not happen.

Two of those 6 games were weathers games. 40% in both including an 0-8 finish against Steelers in the rain with plenty of drops. Won the Packer game and did well.

That leaves Bucs, Ravens and Giants. I've gone over how many were his fault against Bucs and Ravens. I'll do the same for the Giants (a game where Calvin was limited, Pettigrew didn't play). It's not only drops on a WR. Not getting open can be a problem too. For instance the 3rd and 12 in OT, Durham just didn' get much separation. Tight window.

Just the way Stafford fell apart when the Lions needed wins is what bothers me. It was the kind of collapse that SHOULD have a team looking elsewhere for a quarterback.

I'm not sure this is accurate. I think it is the kind of collapse that SHOULD have teams looking to create competition. This year's draft is deep with QBs. Not all of them are going to be taken in the first round, and not all of the best are going to be the first ones picked. There are options like Brett Hundley that we could take after the first round as a sign that we are willing to move on if Stafford doesn't shape up. Hundley has a ton of talent, but needs some seasoning anyway. If he backs up Stafford for a year or two and Staff continues to be erratic, we make a trade and eat the money. If he backs up Stafford for a year or two and Staff pulls himself together, no harm.

Obviously it's not ideal to use a 2nd/3rd round pick on a backup, but if Stafford doesn't improve, it won't really matter what other position we could have filled.

Of course he's not he probably thinks there is no problem

Stubborn douche to boot.

I'm slowly starting to hate him. He has the personality of a brick and apparently thinks he's perfect.

Im pretty sure I can throw the ball to the other team a bunch.....fail in crunch time....and just say "we just didn't make plays" ....after the game.

29/45, 350+ yards, 4 td. The other QB didn have such a bad weather game. Based on the TV feed you can not consistently determine if Stafford made the correct read. All we know is there are some drops. Also a lot of bad throws in those 6 games.

He is not playing at a level that is good enough. Great QBs make average WR seem much better. Greg Jennings was one of the best WR in the league wit Rodgers. Now he is middle of the pack. Elite QBs can throw a WR open.
Stafford needs to improve. He should not be middle of the pack. Throw a decent ball, drops are cut in half. There are a number of great catches by Calvin that cancel out his drops, statistically speaking.

overthrows to a bunch of 6'8'' Wrs are absolutely pathetic....overthrows on several dump downs are equally pathetic.

I'm on board with taking a QB, I don't even care where, 1st rd for all I care. If you don't have a QB you need to get one, so far Stafford has shown he is good but not good enough, either he gets better or we find some else, plus we need a back up and can always trade him like Phili did.

Stafford would shit his panties if the Lions drafted a qb in the first round, lol. I'm on board with drafting a qb, but not in the first round. Second maybe

Its not ideal but we need better play from the QB position, whether its someone else or from lighting fire for Stafford i'm all for it.

Seems to have good accuracy but I don't believe anyone takes a QB that high with Stafford already here.

Btw, what was the talk about Staffords accuracy when we drafted him? He was inaccurate as hell in college.
