I know people are upset about dropping games to MSU and Iowa, but given the undersized athletes on this team, and the massive strides they have made defensively, I am excited about our prospects as Michigan fans. The team does not make nearly as many mental errors, they are winning turnover battles, and are playing very smart.

people just like to bitch. one week everything is shit, the coaches are idiots, we'll never win with so-and-so as QB/coach/OC, "the blacks" can't play QB, etc. the next week we win, and the coaches are brilliant, so-and-so is a Heisman candidate/1st round draft pick/coach-of-the-year, etc.

Don't be like me and point this out. It makes the yahoos upset.

Just smile and say "yes I agree with everything you say."

There is A LOT that needs to be cleaned up with this program, and Hoke cant do it overnight. Try reading the Freep message boards. Those are a joke.

Yeah, I'm optimistic about the rest of the season as well.

The losses suck but nobody expected M to go undefeated right?

Compare this year's road losses against MSU and Iowa to last year's home ass kickings and I don't see who can say Michigan hasn't come a long way back.

All of the last three games are winnable.

also optimistic about future

and i do like hoke - he is direct

these kids are accepting responsibility and their leaders captain are trying to keep them up

certainly very optimistic and excited. you can't change everything overnight but I agree with dubbs and the OP about the defense and the general improvement year over year.

That's because so far when we've lost the coaches have been idiots and when we've won they've been really good. That's usually how it works.

Well, we're always hopeful for the future, yes it'd be nice to see wins, because the future is never promised.

They didn't win the turnover battle on saturday. Not that I'm really complaining about that. I think they had like 5 turnovers the last 2 times they played Iowa, so they improved on that. I'm just saying that they did not win the turnover battle that day.

read the same thing when RR was the coach.

If Countess and Ryan are examples of what Hoke & Co will continue bringing to the D, the future looks very bright indeed. Defense wins championships...just ask LSU and Alabama. The O will get itself worked out eventually, but the D has surprised every single UM fan, I don't care how much they raved about Matty or Hoke, it was impossible to foresee the degree to which the D has improved. I look forward to future when UM D is known as the best and teams practice all week on special teams because they know their only shot at scoring will be FGs and they will be punting more often than scoring. UM is recruiting and developing serious ball hawks on D.

I've read good things about Beyer, as well.
