DD & the Tigers brass picking off the low-hanging fruit I see. They were expendable pieces from the dread sux & the redlegs. Not much effort required except to find out what they wanted in exchange. If DD is done making any more ("major") moves, then it is likely the Tigers are gonna be rolling the dice once again in ST. Hoping that Rondon, Iggy, and Avila will be healthy for much of next season. The BP & bench look like a shit sandwich, even worse than @ this time last off-season. But w/e, I suppose that we fans can hope that the '15 Tigers team can be @ least competitive, if not contenders in the ALCD. The franchise has had 5 shots @ winning a WS in the past 10 years, but failed to even come as close as the Royals did in one.

I confronted you with facts....porcello blows. you fired back with...."teams have won a world series without a pitcher better than porcello" I asked you who....and you have yet to respond. Which makes me lean towards you don't know wtf youre talking about and there really isn't a team that has won a world series without someone better than a career high 15 game winner that gets shelled every single game after the 4th inning.

IFFFFF a team won the world series with a bunch of pitchers worse than rick porcello than im guesing they had a great offense....which DD has continued to put together the best offense on the planet.

I have not been able to track it down. But Rick holds a small record of winning 10 or more games in his first 4 to 6 seasons. With like 4 or 5 other pitchers. Seem like I saw it on espn. Yea I know it's not a big thing but seem like those pitchers were really good as well. But like I said I've not figure out who to find it.

I know some of you have not liked him, and glad he out of here. But he really was not a great fit with the Tigers defense. This coming season should tell us something. With Smyly pitching for the Rays, Porcello for the Bosox. Fister already shown he can pitch with a good team.
Tigers D has always been a question with me. And really the K rate that this team carries. Carries this team a many off times.

And BTW the BIG RED MICHINE and LUMBER COMPANY did have great offences!

Just all guesses at this point. Safe to say Iggy will improve at SS and that Cespedes will be better than Hunter. But to say Nick C. will be better is a stretch. Same at left and Center. Kinsler could fall down..

Cespedes is the left fielder. JD will still be an improvement over Hunter. Our LF Defense is greatly improved. Gose will start in Center(presumably) about 65-75% of the time, and his defense is fantastic. Our defense up the middle is as good as it gets collectively with Iggy, Kinsler and Gose. Our corner infielders are horrible, but both our middle guys have the range to help them out and make them seem passable. I'd say we're much better than last year in that category. I'd also argue we're better offensively as well. Cespedes is at least as good as Hunter, and we should count on improvement from Nick C as well. Our catchers should perform better as part of a platoon, where Avila's OBP will probably be able to clear .350 hitting against only RHP. McCann hit's leftys very well for a catcher. Iggy's offensive production should be around what Suarez's was last year. J.D. may continue, he may fall.. I still think his power gives him a ton of value. His OBP may fall to around .320, but his OPS should still be over .750 if not better than .800. Kinsler should be better than last year, considering it was one of his worst in terms of OPS. Cabrera was a little down last year as well. I think we'll see more consistency this year, both offensively and defensively. Our starting pitching may have taken a step back, but it may not have. Greene has good stuff, and his strikeout rate proves that. He should be able to be better than average as our 5th starter. Simon is a wildcard, but we can always acquire bottom of the rotation starters. I think we've improved over last year. Still need a bench and a solid BP arm, but we're more balanced than last year's team so far.. at least from an output point of view.

Like Thundr said , our up the middle defense is stellar , he didnt say our 2 orner infielders are good but cabrerra isnt usless over there and Nick was a rookie coming off a position change . Add to the fact that both Goose and Cespedes will not be run on and it adds up to pretty good look . JD isnt just some scmuck either , i mean he isnt a GG but hes no slouch . Im oretty excited about the defensive makeup of this club for once , im usuallyall giddy about offense but im seeing a good all around club

I want the defense to be great also..and hope Iggy is healthy all year. Nick has played 3rd before..he got drafted to play 3rd. He played 2 1/2 years there in the minors before he switched. I hope it was just him getting re-acclimated but man he was terrible.

Yeah, Nick did not change positions last year, he simply returned to his natural one. I can see some wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, I mean he's a nice kid and all, but that whole transition excuse holds no water.

He has bad hands and terrible footwork, it is what it is. He's not going to get much better in those regards though Iggy may help him a bit by taking some of the pressure from the right side off, allowing him to cheat towards the line a bit more.

Offensively I expect much more from him, and I really hope he hit the damn weight room and filled out a little. He was so skinny last year it looked like he had to run around in the shower to get wet. If he can put up a real solid OPS, it will go a long ways towards offsetting his defensive shortcomings.

A's had Reddick, who is better defensively is more likely why. Reddick is one of the few guys who might have an arm as good or better than Cespedes, and he's better defensively overall as well. Cespedes > JDMart defensively and with their arms, so we should put Cespedes in RF.
