Why do some fans think this is some super meaningful stat?

I would think the stats of the ends would be more reflective of his performance but that's just my 2 cents.

Justin smith is double teamed the entire game and has 43 tackles to suh's 14. Just sayin.

Tackles are not the best indicator of how a DL is playing but if you have a DT that has a ton of tackles you can pretty much say he is dominant.

If anything I would say maybe an indicator of how many sacks an average DE gets. Ray Edwards cleaned up while he was at Minnesota (alongside the williams wall), got a big contract to play with Atlanta and then mucked it up enough to get let go in the middle of the season. Don't know how much his injury had to do with things, but surely they would have kept him if they felt like he would really contribute at some point.

The cast of characters around Suh on that line need to step up, they aren't getting it done.

We need better DE's I am sick of seeing running players where the RB cuts back into Cliff's vacated spot and bust big runs. Let him walk then draft someone who can sniff a tackle that isnt a sack and move on.

Granted Peterson was limited before Avril got hurt. Big run came on Willie Young.

49ers defense, buddy. Get your head out of your ass.

Yup....theyre good. Were bad. Thats my point. look up how much they pay aldon smith and compare production and money spent to avril and kvb. Take corey williams 5 mil and compare production. Youll quickly see a patern. We pay guys alot of money and they don't do much. The debate was that if you get double teamed a lot than you cant get statistical production like tackles.....it took me 5 seconds to think of someone who does in Justin Smith. Whats wrong with that?

Not that it really means anything now but I thought I'd add they just gave Suh credit for one sack in the Vikings game now. Was originally ruled a tackle by Levy.

Seifert over on ESPN page analyzed some plays of Suh, after Jimmy said that he probably had the best game of his career.

I'm just saying that a guy like Justin Smith has All-World talent around him from top to bottom. Not discrediting anything Smith does because he's a beast, but Suh has garbage around him.

Justin Smith is responsible for 2 gaps as well. And San Fran LBs disrupting way more than the Lions LBs disrupt at the line of scrimmage. Suh or Fairley are the ones that has to do the disrupting facing doubles.
