Supreme Court strikes down same-sex marriage bans

And I want to win the 2015 British Open by 15 shots. About the same likelihood.

In golf they're called strokes.

I don't know if Andrew Jackson ever spoke to John Quincy Adams using golf metaphors, but if he did, in 1828 he might of said the same thing about abolition.

50 years ago what was the likelihood of what happened today?

Forward.

So I was two strokes over par standing on the 9th tee last week? Cool. When has the U.S. Government ever relinquished its authority?

Stroke is more common but shot and stroke are used interchangeably. On TV you will often hear announcers say stuff like "...so and so carries a 3 shot lead heading into 18..."

Anyway, if you're a liberal, today's good news has to be tempered by the fact that we're all going to die from climate change.

Judge not, lest ye be judged.

Love thy neighbor as thyself

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me..hmmm....what else to cherry-pick from the Bible?

A person doesn't really have to cherry pick the stuff Jesus said, or at least is said to have said. It's all pretty consistent and it's pretty good stuff.

If everybody lived trying to do as close they could to doing the stuff that Jesus said we'd all probably be better off.

I think few would argue with that.

You offer some excellent examples to isolate. What they have to do with this topic is a bit of a mystery.

Are they really?

The argument that I have most often seen online is that LBGTs are an abomination in the eyes of God, and that ain't in any other secular tome.

Ummm...let me think...maybe...today?

Today was not step backward...it was a step forward to one day allowing people to choose and recognize marriage however they wish...

That's a false premise, and not one that I subscribe to either.

Clearly we are not looking at this ruling in the same way. The Court has forced me to accept the false concept that two people of the same sex can be married.

Maybe not all of us, unless you live near coastlines, or on low-lying islands that are not very hilly or mountainous.

It may take as much as several generations to do us ALL in, and long before then it won't be any of my concern.

If that's the case, it only bolsters my position to get the government out of marriage entirely, once and for all.

Yeah but those are the places where married gays tend to live.

How many fuckin' married gays do you think are living in Appalachia?

I definitely agree. But holding back the tide is an easier task, IMO. The U.S. Government is an entity that will never get out of anything that perpetuates itself.

Guys, I think it's so important to step back and take a deep breath.....

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA! HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

In South Park, the personae of Satan is characterized as a big ol' gay, who is in love with Saddam Hussein...

So yeah, if that's the case, he's probably down there celebratin,' and stuff...

...although if that's case, there's probably been marriage equality in Hell for quite some time...
