That the media is talking about Caldwell potentially saving his job with how the team has turned things around since 1-7 start.

I really hope he is around next season.

That way I can avoid paying attention to the Lions next year.

To put it bluntly, that fucking quitter could win a Super Bowl as the Lions HC and i would still want him fired.

It literally pisses me off that they are remotely discuss him remaining as HC after beating the shit competition the Lions have played against.

I hope all you guys who have been happy with the wins can stomach having Caldwell around next year, if that happens.

I think if anything, Cooter is the one that looks like his stock has gone up. Caldwell, he dead. If he's back, I assume I will be a permanent Cardinals fan. Or maybe play it like my brother-in-law, root for the front runners.

I'm ok with the coordinators, either could be promoted or remain in current role...just not Caldwell.

I'm on board promoting Austin. Cooter should be givin a chance to show this isn't a fluke.

Caldwell should be let go about 2.47 seconds after the new GM is hired.

All depends on the next GM. Media can run their mouths all they want.....means nothing.

GM hires the HC, meaning Caldwell probably gone. HC, whoever that may be, hires the staff. They usually like to bring in their own guys. If Austin is head coach material, I don't believe he is, than he's probably gone. That leaves Cooter, the only reason I think he stays, because new coach might want his QB to have continued stability. Not another coaching change.

Dude, this is what the Lions have been doing since this franchise has been around. Every season, there is always a false carrot of hope at the end of a season. A win against NO on the road that cost them 6 spots in the draft. Winning meaningless games after being basically eliminated from the playoffs after an 0-5 start.

Martha has seen enough from Caldwell that no matter who they hire, she'll tell that person he gets to stay. And that's why the GM will be Sheldon White, because no GM would want that stipulation tied to the job.

I don't care what the media is saying. We don't even have a new GM yet, and Wood has made it clear the next GM will decide Caldwell's fate.

Any speculation is complete BS until the new person is hired.

The effect Cooter has had on Stafford is pretty hard to deny. 14TD, 13INT, 1 fumble lost under Lombardi. 16TD, 2INT, 1 fumble lost under Cooter, with one game to go. Hasn't really filtered down the the O-line yet...the run blocking is still horrific most of the time, but maybe some of the younger guys would benefit from a full camp and preseason under Cooter. But I think the only way he stays is if they retain the entire staff, as has been stated above, new HC's wanna bring in their own guys.

Spoken like a true doom and gloomer. :*) <<<<(tears)

As a side note: Harder schedule with Lombardi, easier schedule under Cooter.

I wanna see Cooter and Austin stay. I'm sure it's been said already, but I agree that Austin is most likely gone if he isn't promoted to head coach. Something about how he deflects incredibly dumb play calling to it being "Jim's call" doesn't make me feel great about him staying in Detroit.

Cooter has really brought the offense to a simple state and has limited the chance for Stafford to make mistakes. He is not throwing the ball down the field very much at all. One game he didn't even attempt to throw it more than 10 yards down the field. Which is a good plan, Stafford gets into trouble when he is asked to make plays down field and his accuracy goes to shit.

However playing a few bottom of the barrel defenses under cooter helped as well.
